The Mindcrack Server: Early Season 3
Information about the first contest to get into the Mindcrack server!
The contest started/was announced on December 25th, and Nebris had downloaded the map, found all the signs, wrote down their coordinates, answered the insanely hard questions which definitely required watching the entirety of season 1 at least once (he probably also had to do this to find some of the signs. We already know he used an x-ray texture pack to locate one of them), and then sent a PM to Guude with the answers, all in 7 days. It doesn’t mention when Espie got on the server, just that it was after Nebris sometime in January.
And I knew that Arkas entered this contest, but what I didn’t know was that Pakratt and Just_D3fy also entered, or at least were going to, not sure if they submitted their answers but they were in the comments of the contest announcement video along with Stennet10, which has only been viewed by just over 9000 people! Remember when Mindcrack was small? Yeah, me neither.
And I can’t believe there were only 10 members back in early 2011! I’m not sure if Mhykol, Avidya, LowlanderHD, or it3fergie had been on the server at that point or not. Mhykol didn’t officially join until later, but I know he took a tour of the season 2 Mindcrack server as part of his “Mhykol Invades” series, and Avidya was a member briefly before retiring from YouTube and going on hiatus from Minecraft and then rejoining the server later in season 3, but I’m not sure how those events fit into the timeline. LowlanderHD is apparently a personal irl friend of Guude’s but was never seen in a Mindcrack video, although he was in one of Guude’s other Minecraft videos (not sure which one). I have no idea how it3fergie fits into the picture at all, but they’ve never been in a Mindcrack video either.
Wow, only 38 entries! And the votes were actually tallied manually, I can’t imagine how much time that would have taken during the height of Mindcrack’s fame. I wish I could find the full list, or at least the top ten of those who entered. And wow, Just_D3fy was in this contest AGAIN and lost AGAIN! Poor guy got fourth place and still wasn’t one of the five people who were chosen lol.
I actually never knew what this contest was about until now. I thought it was just another video contest, I had no idea it was building the arena! Now I need to see all of their designs. I think it was only right for JD, Pakratt, and Arkas to win. They all entered the first contest, and at least Just Defy entered the second contest as well. Definitely longterm dedicated fans, and now longtime dedicated friends! :D
(except for Just Defy rip)
It--an annual event on the Mindcrack server, really? Hmm I wonder why that is. I can’t believe Mindcrack invented Christmas (celebrated since 2010)
A wild Kurt appears during the original Death Games as they’re going down!
I love how they each have their own emoticon in the chat lol, even Kurt
This was the Mindcrack server whitelist at some point during season 4!
Here we can see the official members of Mindcrack at the time: w92baj, zisteau, blametc, anderzel, paulsoaresjr, pauseunpause, nebris, avidyazen, pakratt0013, mcgamer, arkas, millbee, docm77, jsano19, sethbling, pyro_0, etho, boubleo100, mhykol, generikb, thejims, adlingtont, guude, vintagebeef, and kurtmac.
And we also have some members second or camera accounts: easycgi (Guude), avidya (AvidyaZEN), pyrao (Pyro_0), bigabbo (PauseUnpause), btcamera (BlameTC), and zedcamera (Zisteau)
The guests and previous Mindcrackers who were whitelisted at this time are: dinnerbone (works at Mojang), shreeyamgfx (who Guude refused to remove from the whitelist after he left the server), and madcow21 (and long-time irl friend of Guude’s who used to play back in season 2 and at the very beginning of season 3 but hasn’t returned since)
The only one I’m not sure about is vechs1 because he has been on the Mindcrack server whitelist since the season 3 server after he was invited by Zisteau, but never joined. I’m not positive if he had joined the server at this point or not because I can’t remember if he was added before or after SethBling. Note that NewMindcracker is not whitelisted. I’m not sure if this is because Guude removed the account from the whitelist after Seth‘s membership was announced or because Seth had been added to the whitelist prior to his official joining of the server.
I miss Mindcrack UHCs, and I miss PlayMindcrack, and I miss the Mindcrack Podcast, and season 3 of the Mindcrack server, and all the posts on the Mindcrack Subreddit, and all the fanart of the Mindcrackers, and all the Mindcrack videos. I missed so many events and so much hype, it feels like I arrived to the best party ever three years too late and everyone’s left now :(
So in one of the Mindcrack Podcasts Baj mentions that BTC has the same name as someone else on the server, and I’m just wondering like... it’s about half of them now who are confirmed to share names with each other. It’s getting pretty ridiculous. But I honestly can’t imagine who BTC shares a name with. Like he doesn’t strike me as a Jason, or Jeff, or Daniel, or Alex, or Martin, or Paul. He’s just... Jarool.
Another thing I found interesting was that Beef said he didn’t even know Etho’s name, although Guude said he’d tell him after the podcast. I always wonder how much they know about each other.
But saying this, just a reminder not to press them for any personal information they haven’t released publicly, and don’t go digging for anything yourself even if you aren’t going to share it. There have been issues with that in the past and it’s never nice to see.
