Am I the only one who thinks it would've made more sense for Jeanne-Marie to team up with the rogue Alpha Flight and Aurora with the Canadian government in Alpha Flight vol 4?

Im gonna ask around about rants, unpopular opinions and hot takes, but this time it will be about the other shows (mgafs, eaps, laes 1 and 2 versions and eass) 👋

Oh boy do I have a lot. I would take this with a grain of salt though as I only watched Eaps.

1. Not sure if this one counts as a hot take but I think Ruin was 100% in the wrong during the Ruin virus arc. I understand that he had the potential to get his Monty back but he was wasting resources on a dead man. The others also gave him a set time limit and gave him more time after that and he still chose to risk them all and the world they were in.

2. The deal Ruin had with Puppet was wasted potential. He should’ve never been brought back to any show and instead should’ve been cursed to travel the multi verse to atone for his crimes.

3. Frank, Francis, and Fran needed more screen time. They’re such cool concepts and I’m devastated that we never got to see more of them. In addition to the lack of screen time Frank got pushed to the side even when he was the focus of the end of the Stitchwraith arc in MGAF. Him and his loss of Ronty (Ruined Monty) pushed everything into its climax and we still barely got to see him.

4. Half of the time Eclipse was not in the wrong for lashing out. I do think that he should’ve accepted the help when he needed it, but there were also multiple occasions where he properly articulated what he needed (mostly to be left alone) and no one respected that.

I think those are my main rants with the shows. I don’t watch TEAS and I barely watched MGAF, so most of these involve EAPS. These also hardly count as hot takes but they bother me enough to warrant a mini rant.

Why does the Oxford Complete Shakespeare read Kent's "break, heart, I prithee, break" as directed at Lear? That makes no sense. Kent knows he's dead already at this point. Surely he's talking about himself, given just a handful of lines later he states he intends to kill himself.

I know Lear was the one who said this line in the Quarto version (cause his death occurs slightly later in that) but it seems pretty clear Kent is talking about himself in this rewritten version. And the far superior version incidentally. Oxford's editorial choices are baffling.

They also resign this, despite being far superior, to "alternate versions", on the grounds that, and these are their genuine words, the Quarto "has more Shakespeare". Ah yes, that's why I only warch the workprint versions of movies. They have more of the director = more authentic

Basically what they're admitting to is they're trying to hammer Shakespeare's plays into the shape of literature to be read rather than what they are which is plays to be performed.

Though as they have Kent telling a corpse's heart to stop beating here they don't seem too good at reading the plays either!

Full offense, I'm convinced the people seriously going on about the glowup just don't have depth-perception. Beside the fact that every character who goes through this looks the same (they haven't had a face transplant!), the reason you are seeing something different their time around is because now they are being painted in a more sympathetic and pov-centered light. Anthony was a joke the first season, then he came back with less sideburns and a left behind quest to marry his sister off to the grimiest, most unsuitable, and ripe worst option possible of the time. Now, we've seen Colin for 2 seasons paying no attention to the most obvious crush known to his ever-cultured-knowing man, and people have taken it personally. I'm sure that people who never watched Bridgerton thought Colin was just some empty-headed charmer (😉) and mean from the 2 seemingly most talked about scenes during hiatus. And the people not paying attention who do watch, they haven't seen the wonderful complexity that the show has laid stepping stones for and interesting character that the book first created (sucks for them). And don't even get me started on reactors and the solely exterior focus on Penelope and her Cinderella moment as if that's gonna be the catalyst for the ultimate pining from her one true love and HEA soulmate.

I hope y’all actually lose money for this because it’s extremely embarrassing to not listen to the shit your fans have been telling you to do for years.
