Ngl, I wouldn't use that "xe" app. It leave out a lot of pronous. Jai/jaiiself, pree/pres/pret, a lot of nature-based pronouns (cloud/cloudself, wave/wavx) kind terfy imo thxy could have tried harder :/
No worries bud, you totally don’t have to use Xe!
I think it fair to mention that I made that post WAY back in 2014, and a LOT more pronouns have made their way into more common vocabulary in queer circles and beyond! For whatever reason, Minus 18 has chosen not to update the app to include more pronouns, but that doesn’t mean the base one isn’t good practice! It’s simple, approachable, and enjoyable!
I disagree that the app is TERFy however. Minus 18 is consistent in their message that sex does not equal gender, and even has articles such as this one that point out that the hard male/female binary view of sex and gender is predominantly due to white colonialism, and that QTIPOC have had a much longer and more diverse history of different genders and gender roles than TERFs would have people believe.
While the vernacular might be a little dated by today’s standards (and standards move quickly!) here’s a picture of Xe’s “About” page, back from 2014 even:
You are free to do as you see fit, Anon! Use the app, don’t use the app, either way, I still think it’s a good resource for people just getting started!
