Ω PJO MISC. DEMIGOD HEADCANONS: 🐺LETO👰 "TITAN GODDESS OF MOTHERHOOD AND DEMURENESS, & PROTECTOR OF THE YOUNG" {Wave 8.0.}
A/N: > Tosses Leto and her demigods at you
Here. I caved in because I can't go through my asks with the spamming of the Leto demigod. Now let me work in peace.
Did some research on this and I should hope you guys know that mentions of Leto were not easy to find and I almost had to deep dive into actual occult texts. Found some other mentions of Leto and stuff, but a lot of stuff of Leto aren't just there or are usually acquainted with Apollo, Phoebe, and other gods. This is why I didn't want to write Leto because there's not really much to write about so I tried.
MISCELLANEOUS DEMIGOD H/CS MASTERLIST LINK: [VOL. 1: TUMBLR] || [VOL. 2: TUMBLR] || [AO3]
For being the demigod of the goddess of demureness/modesty, you're arrival and reveal as a demigod of Leto was anything but modest. When you first came to Camp, nobody knew who your godly parent could be and while some threw out some suggestions, but in the nicest way possible, none of the traits you showed seemed to scream a particular god in general. You did have talents, don't get me wrong, but it was neither earth-shattering or obvious that made people go "Oh yeah, they're definitely X demigod". Still, you made friends with the people at camp and particularly to a boy named Lester Papadopoulos, "resident of the Apollo cabin" as he puts it. Your claim came when the Hunters of Artemis and Artemis herself were at Camp for their annual arrival (and recruitment) and there was a game of Capture the Flag with the camp against the Huntresses. You were with Lester when you were facing Artemis herself and it almost seem poetic between the time of day and night converging just as Artemis and Lester seemed to aim their bows at each other, The shots flew over your head when the claim appeared, causing their bows and arrows to drop as they stared wide-eyed at the symbol. It was a woman with a veil and you were confused but then you heard Lester make a whiny noise crossed with a choking sound, and you heard Artemis make the same thing. Everyone around you seemed to gather and murmur, Chiron let out a neigh of a hiccup, Dionysus seemed to curse, and that's when Lester and Artemis revealed that you were a demigod of Leto, goddess of motherhood and demureness, their half-sibling from their mother. Oh and if you haven't figured it out yet, your friend Lester was revealed to be Apollo.
In general, if you've been told you're kind, gentle, modest, and compassionate then you're just like Leto.
If you're someone who has the belief or stand for common, equal human rights; espescially access to clean, drinking water, then you're most likely a child of Leto. This isn't obvious but way back then, Leto was prevented from drinking from a pool so she could quench her thirst and thus feed baby Apollo and Artemis with her milk, and in her fury of being denied the need to drink for herself and her babies, she turned the mortals into frogs. This is also how frogs become related to Leto, that both appeal to you but also annoy you with their croaking.
On the other hands wolves have a connection to you as Leto honoured the wovles that helped her lead her carrying the baby twins to the River Xanthos to drink and clean herself. So if you have an obsession with wolves, want a pet wolf, or if you're a daughter of Leto and accept joining Artemis' hunters, you have a strong bond and respect with the wolves, then that's why.
As sudden as it is, you might have the ability to shape shift genders or switch between two physical genders/sexes as one of Leto's sacred animals is the Mongooses and it was written in by the Ancient Greek writer Claudius Aelianus "On the Nature of Animals" that "the Ichneumon (mongoose) is both male and female in the same individual, partaking of both sexes, and nature has enabled each single same animal both to procreate and to give birth"(10. 47) - which relates to Leto being the goddess of Mother hood. It's a bit of a wild thought and you could just regular shapeshift too that is not limited to your sex/gender. If you identify as transgender or gender-fluid, then you definitely have this ability.
Speaking of shapeshifting, you might just be able to turn yourself into a wolf as Aelianus stated in one of his books about the wolf, he states that when Apollo was born, it was after Leto turned herself into a she-wolf hence Homer referring to Apollo as "Wolf-born Lord of the Bow" and wolves have an overall connection with Delphi. So yeah paired with the shape shifting aspect, you could honestly be a werewolf.
Wolf friends. Wolf friends. All the Wolves. Absolutely obsessed with wolves.
You're technically a light and/or darkness demigod as Leto was theorized to be a goddess of the night like her sister Asteria, or alternatively, the light of day. So you could either have either Light or Darkness powers, depending on your own individual nature, but never the other and have the potential as being strong as a child of Apollo or Hades, OR have both light and darkness powers that are equal in power but never as strong as either a child of Apollo or Hades in return.
Speaking of Apollo and Artemis, they're all over you as their half-sibling. Mostly because had they neglected to visit their mother long enough to not realize that she had found herself a mortal lover, somehow, and was pregnant with you somehow? Moreover, how did they miss your existence this entire time since you were born? Especially when one is the god of healing and the other is the goddess of childbirth, and whether gender you were born as, one of them should've known as they're respective protectors of boys and girls.
If you're a daughter of Leto, she would periodically ask if you if you wish to join her huntresses, whether temporarily or permanently. Her blessings may not go as far if you decide to join the hunters temporarily, but still as the protector of the girl (up to marriage) and being her half-sister, it's still something. Just not with the immortality and everything.
Apollo is absolutely destroyed at the thought he missed his baby siblings childhood and missed out being the cool-awesome big brother for real this time to his sibling. As much as he is protective as Artemis as her brother, she is still technically the eldest by a few days, but he would be totally justifiable of being the older brother now you're here! He tries to make up time to you as best as he can, as both as Lester and Apollo when he isn't being pulled away by his duties as a god, or whenever Artemis pulls him away to give you some breathing space.
With Leto being referenced having magical feats and whose sister is Asteria, who gave birth to Hecate the goddess of magic, witchcraft and etc, I'd imagine as a demigod of Leto, you too are able to use magic and have a talent in it. Whether this is part of your light/dark powers or separate remains dependent on you. Regardless, I can imagine that you'll be spending a lot of time with the Hecate cabin, trading and learning tips of magic yourself.
Speaking of Hecate, because you are a demigod with a talent in magic and the fact you are Leto's kid and thus her cousin, she makes a point to invite you to her magic school. Who also may came off as an overbearing and eager family member looking out for the youngest; which isn't too far from the truth. There are no shortage of frogs available to you at her school that you are free to keep as a pet or use as test subjects for magical endeavors for whatever you decide to do with. Mostly on behalf of Hecate who remembers of her aunt's hand in the frogs demise.
Regardless of your decision, Hecate makes it a point to help you learn how to manipulate the mist since that technically falls on the ability of a demigod with strong (magical) talent, but also because the 'veil' that Leto presides over can be applied to the mist in terms of similarities. ⭒☆━━━━━━━━☆⭒⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒⭒☆━━━━━━☆⭒
You eyed exhaustively at the groaning man-boy again who had his head between his hands, bemoaning how he didn't see it sooner and how could he was a failure of an older brother and of a son. Your eyes were turned to attention to the casual sipping of the girl next to him, seemingly unbothered by the boy's woes and cries, who would occasionally turn to her and gripe how this could've happened and repeated protests of "how come mother didn't tell us!" or "Why aren't you bothered by this sis!" or "Where's your older sister pride?!"
It had been 30 minutes of this back and forth while you were sitting with them, after Mr. D chucked the three of you to the Big House to deal with this, and Chiron coming back to gently encourage you siblings three to know each other more before hurriedly galloping after the Madden God who was griping about dealing with estranged relatives casually dumping their children unannounced and introducing them on inappropriate times.
You just sat there with a drink that one of the poor nymphs deliver to the Big house and she let out an 'Eep!' while stammering her words to Apollo and Artemis, before you heard Mr.D recall her back and she disappeared with a poof of chlorophyll filling the air. What made it also bearable was that one of the wolves from Artemis retinue had taking a liking to you and you could busy yourself petting the wolf.
Hence how Lester Papadopoulos, who you knew as the resident of the Apollo Cabin and your good friend turned out to be Apollo himself and Lady Artemis, sat before you as you were still wrapping around the fact you were not just the demigod of Leto, but also the sibling of Apollo and Artemis.
Which was crazy to think about being the half-sibling to major Olympians and being a demigod of Leto which has not occurred so far, and now there was a debate if you were the first Leto demigod or if there were more somewhere that somehow Apollo and Artemis didn't find out despite their chariots of the Sun and Moon going over the entire sky (that last bit was not your own words but something Apollo was bemoaning that how could they, particularly, he, missed it and quote 'Have we've not been visiting mother enough to not know that she was pregnant at some point?!' and crying about being a bad doctor and son) (you also figured out that Apollo was a mama's boy and somehow the thought of that being the case was not only amusing to you, but also nice to think about).
Lester let out another groan and you had a feeling he was going to spiral once more. And judging by Artemis' twitch in her eyebrow, you had a feeling she was on her last arrow. The wolf between your legs let out a growl, its ears down and annoyed. You wonder if the divine laws about gods unable to challenge each other directly would apply to the twins because of sibling spats. Probably. Since Zeus and Poseidon have notoriously had spats with each other.
"Well, if its any difference," you find yourself speaking up, drawing Lester-Apollo's and Artemis' attention to you, "You already felt like a sort of an older brother before…the claim. I just didn't get why till now. Guess it makes sense now."
Lester-Apollo looked gobsmacked and his eyes went wide before his downturned face turned bright. And when I mean bright, I meant Bright literally.
You squinted your eyes as Lester let out a "Rweally?!" and the room was being blinded. You heard whining from your wolf friend and desperate barking, before you heard a SMACK, and an "OW". Like someone had slapped the light switch, the lights went off and you saw Apollo nursing his head and Artemis waving her silver arrow threateningly.
"Don't blind our youngest sibling brother already!" chided Artemis before she rolled her eyes, "No wonder mother didn't reveal anything to you because she knew you would act like this."
Something shattered and both you and Apollo looked at Artemis with wide eyes.
"What?"
"You knew?!" screeched Apollo as Artemis gave the most deadpanned look.
"Brother, did you not forget I am a Goddess of Childbirth? Nor did I help mother help give birth to you?" she said.
Your mouth opened and closed like a fish and Apollo get an ear-piercing streak that rippled the sound barrier, breaking all the windows with light flashing outside. Your wolf friend hit the floor with you, letting out a loud whine and howl at the pain and you faintly heard Mr. D let out a rip of nasty Greek curses that made you wince and blush as you bunker down, wondering if this was going to be a habit now on.
If there were any other Leto demigods out there, this was going to get old fast.
