Almost two years have passed since our last visit to Mitsuyoshi. This is our favorite neighborhood Japanese restaurant.

We were regulars (at least once a month, sometimes twice) until my mom passed away. Dad does not go to restaurants anymore. The void is too enormous for him to cope.

So my sister asked me, ‘are you ready to go back’? 'Sure,’ I responded.

I spoke too soon. We got to our sweet memorable Mitsuyoshi, and were seated by one of our ladies who recognized us.

Once seated, she asked, 'How’s papa and mama?’

I replied, without delay. Then once I got into explaining about mom’s whereabouts, my eyes started welling up. Crap. I wasn’t ready as I thought.

Anyway, we had a very pleasant evening. I had no doubt.

I ordered salmon misoyaki. JP chose to do 'izakaya’ style. Rainbow roll, seaweed salad, oysters, stuffed jalapenos.

Beers and shoju paired nicely with our dishes. Kampai!

Dessert. We had to. Mom always like a little sweet dessert after. The winner was the green tea tower. Warm red bean cake topped with a scoop of green tea ice cream. Sprinkled with soybean powder.

All ready to go back again, this time we will not let too much time go by…
