The artist for the 16th day of my Pride Playlist is one who, much like the rest, needs no intro but I am more than happy to give her one anyway. An iconic drag queen born and raised in the Bronx before moving out to sunny Southern California, Coco Peru is the epitome of a legit living legend. From starring roles in the most formative films of my queer youth to comedy that tickles me in the most important places to this very day, with a message of peace, love, and total acceptance, Coco is someone I've always looked up to. So it goes without saying that the relationship we've been able to develop over the years has become equally as important and cherished in my heart. They say never meet your idols, but they never met Coco Peru. What more is there to say about the diva that is Coco besides she's everything? I admire you, I respect you, and I love you, queen. Thank you for always being there for me and for everyone around you and around us. This world isn't nice and it isn't always pretty, but it sure is a helluva a lot safer with Miss Coco Peru among us to light the way forward as she's done for me.
