M*A*S*H, for your sitcom game! ❤️
(Do I need to watch M*A*S*H? I feel like it’s having a tumblr resurgence this past year or so, so it must be streaming somewhere.)
Anyway, for War Is Hell But Things Are Funny, the best rec I’ve got for you is In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan. There’s even a found family, much as the viewpoint character refuses to admit it! But seriously, on my most recent reread I was really fond of how fiercely pacifist the viewpoint character is in this one.
I think this is also where I’m going to use my Token Killjoys Rec, for the frequently bantery story about a found family caught in the middle of events much bigger than they are. They take a more active part in the fighting than I get the impression M*A*S*H does, but there are enough echoes that I’m going for it.
Since it was so big on tumblr last year, you may have seen this one, but again, while they’re more in the middle of the fighting than in the show, The Old Guard has a found family grappling with what it’s like to live in the middle of a really long war.
