I would say my biggest #mixedgirlproblem is simply dealing with being/looking the stereotypical idea of what #beingmixed is. Though it is not a HUGE problem; it is a very big thing that annoys me because #mixedness is only permissible or even accepted if you look like me. Meanwhile my sister and others who are more visibly black are almost never encompassed in this. And sometimes when they are; it can be perceived as “negating” their blackness. I know that I take up much more space than anyone darker than me; and I refuse to not serve a function in a community/system that I benefit off of. So I want everyone to know that being mixed is not monolithic (much like any aspect of individual identity) we ALL have range.
