“You're a natural,” the actor said without envy, but with pure admiration. “Did you really sing Twinkle winkle Twinkle little star in Japanese?”

“My brother liked it,” he defended. “But only if I sang it to him.”

“Well, with a voice like yours, even angels would stop and listen.”

His heart skipped a beat. It was comments like this, said casually, as if they were no big deal, that sent him into a tailspin.

What did Johnny mean? Was it just a compliment? Was it a flirt? What did it mean?!

Maybe Kenshi was thinking too much. Maybe he should have taken the plunge and hoped for the best. But he didn't want to ruin everything, not when it was all so new to both of them.

“Why do you have that face?” he coughed, trying to change the subject.

“Ah, it's just…you and Cassie are adorable. Really. I'm not sure she likes me very much. And it's practically the first time a lady doesn't like me."

“She still has to get used to you,” he tried to console his friend.

“Or maybe my agent was right and I'm not cut out to be a father.”

“Don't talk nonsense,” Kenshi said, with a frown. “You're a father, Cage.”

“I'm just messing up.”

“No one is perfect,” Kenshi admitted. “ But you asked for help for her. You understood that you couldn't do it alone and you made the best decision for your child. You are already thinking of this little girl as your daughter, even without a possible biological connection. You're a good man, and Cassie is lucky to have you.”
