Rewatching Wreckless Driver in French and it's hilarious how plain obviously on-screen Marientte's motivation is that she tries talking Adrien out of going to therapy to talk about Gabriel because she prioritizes her lies and secrets and knows Adrien is easily influenced by her
No, she isnt an evil ill-intentioned monster for this, but it's literally THERE. Not to mention, Marinette ONLY disagreeing about going to therapy when it comes to Adrien, everyone else she supports and perfectly understands what the their purpose of using therapy is.
This scene and characterization for Marinette and Alya doesnt even come out of nowhere, again, this is the episode right after Revelator. Said episode's conflict between Alyanette regarding Adrien's well-being, agency, and right to know the truth is straight up continued here on a smaller scale. And it's especially important because Alya here doesnt know 90% of Marinette's current motivations, lies, and other secrets anymore.
Marinette stans always yell about how superior their "media literacy" is (for ignoring and cherry-picking 80% of canon) and yet yall dont even wanna acknowledged that Alya being kept in the dark about everything by Marinette LOGICALLY means Alya is not capable of accurately assessing Marinette's true motivations. Cause how the hell could she at this point? lol Alya isnt saying "Oh, Marinette's problem isnt wanting to control how Adrien perceives his dead abuser who was Monarque so protect her lies on his expense, she just fears not being useful :)", Alya doesnt know that the former is even an option!
This is not rocket science. Look at what's on-screen. I promise you, CHILDREN know that Alya is missing the context she choose to forget. Because there was a whole episode about it. The episode right before this one. What a crazy coincidence, right? :D It's almost like that's story-telling and the story is trying to tell you something lol
Marinette is not some innocent idiot who cant comprehend what therapy is when it comes to Adrien specifically or a poor little saint of a girlfriend who cant bare the thought of not being the one to heal her boyfriend like the broken dove she thinks he is.
Marinette didnt want Adrien to go to therapy because her secrets are more important (that's nothing new, she literally risked murdering him to protect the secrets and lies she keeps about his life and on his expense), but Alya having reacted the way she did in Revelator and now not being aware of Marinette's secrets and motivations means Marinette was simply put in a checkmate where she couldnt keep trying to talk Adrien out of therapy without looking like an irrational, selfish, and abusive asshole.
That's all that happened here. And even that didnt get her to agree. Instead she gave Adrien broken and sad puppy dog eyes
Cause she doesnt even voice an argument, she just silently begs that Adrien will disregard his mental-health for her benefit and comfort again.
And the fact that Marinette doesnt talk for this "resolution" is important, because this way its only the two characters who dont know her secrets and motivations who will make up whatever excuse for Marinette's behavior again that makes sense with their limited information while marinette herself once again lets herself be given any excuse and reward/ consolation prize (of still getting to have power and influence over Adrien cause that's what the Love Square has come to for some reason) while all that's asked of her is to not go on a rampage on the spot and give a painted little smile as "support":
It's so obvious whats happening here and the French original voice acting isnt hiding it whatsoever lol You have to be Narnia-deep into delulu-land to ignore all of this in favor of claiming that Alya is SOMEHOW CORRECT with her assessment of Marinette's motivation and mind-set despite being stuck pre-s5 finale secrets-wise. Alya is pretty much convinced to be interacting with a different Marinette than who is actually in front of her (but even that is the norm for Marinette in pretty much any dynamic, especially the Love Square though)
And to put a perfect little bow on the matter, the end card even shows Video Game Marinette not using her weaponized love to aim for Adrien's ghosts to help him, she instead uses her weaponized love to aim at HIM:
Marinette's love is HURTING Adrien because Marinette never listens to anyone around her and ignores everything being said the second she gets the opportunity to disregard it, because waiting for validation is nicer and apparently more important.
So basically, exactly what he end of Relevator already told us. Where Marinette, well, whimpered to a mind-wiped Alya that she's afraid Alya would ever hate her for secrets and lies (without giving Alya and context whatsoever) and then took this Alya's unknowing invalidation of her previous self that knew ONE of Marinette's big secrets, to completely ignore the second chance Alya gave her in the battle because Alya "changed her mind and learned her lesson so no need to care about anything battle-Alya said"
Because it doesnt matter that Alya previously said something else entirely when she knew the truth,
And that Alya made it crystal clear that she wont be complicit in Marinette's massive lie this time because she thinks it's disgustingly wrong and thinking Marinette is the only one who knows any of this and therefore gave Marinette an ultimatum that she can either agree to come clean now immediately, so Alya wont have to lie as she stays by her side, or accept that Alya will wipe her own mind and Marinette can come clean by herself later which is more difficult:
(lets not ignore how straight up disgustingly Marinette is using and manipulating Chat Noir here to get him to unknowingly keep the secret she herself said he wouldnt stand for either to the point where he would tell Adrien the truth behind her back. Like, girl. This is repulsive behavior that's made even worse by this being the only time since s4's Ladynoir conflict "resolution" that Marinette TOLERATES Chat Noir getting to do and be more than her small pet who's only worth and skill is to worship her and be her tool and sacrifice because him showing initiative "stressed" and "oppressed" her, so he had to stop. Very telling that NOW she suddenly wanted him to develop his powers, and ONLY this one time for this specific purpose that only benefits HER, and ONLY when he was denied any actual agency in making this decision. She truly has so much RESPECT and healthy love for her kitty, doesnt she? :)))
Leading to Marinette straight up deciding that she will let battle-Alya leave her because that way she's back to being buried alive underneath lies and Marinette can try to continue loop-holing herself into not having to change anything despite that breaking battle-Alya's trust (too):
because now Alya "agrees" that this is MARINETTE'S secret, SHE is the poor victim and HER comfort is what's most important, not actual justice or Adrien's well-being and dignity, Chat Noir's agency and dignity that battle-Alya only helped Marinette deceive because she literally told Marinette to IMMEDIATELY set things right and come clean which includes to CHAT NOIR, and even Alya's morals she made very VERY clear
Marinette ended Revelator by giving Alya the Chat Noir treatment. Bury them alive underneath lies and only listen to them invalidating whatever they said before because now she's tricked them into having a completely wrong perspective of reality and of HER
But sure, please, tell me again how Alya in the episode afterwards Wreckless Driver TOTALLY has all the needed information to accurately assess Marinette's motivation and mind-set regarding her not wanting Adrien to go to therapy about his father's nature, despite the show going out of it's way to fully establish that ALYA DOES NOT KNOW THE MARINETTE IN FRONT OF HER BECAUSE OF MARINETTE'S LIES:
No seriously, try and convince me. Oh, and please use actual canon episodes and scenes as proof to back your argument up. I'm not taking any vague "canon isnt canon and the cherry-picked vibes are telling me Marinette is incapable of being FLAWED flawed, she's actually stupid beyond compare and doesnt know what she's doing but pure and owed full control anyway, and its everyone else's fault and responsibility to make up for that by putting her first" speeches as proof that coincidentally avoid using recent images/ gifs ect and mostly talk about these characters as if we're still in s1-s4.
