Day 24 of #TheVintageFashionChallenge. Today’s theme is EYE CANDY, and who better to channel for that than #HanSolo? I finished my 1940s #Solo pants just in time for the premiere tonight (inspired by @starbirdbybetsy’s 40s Solo pants). Another #memademay #mmmay18 item. The other side of my reversible flamingo #apron. I never liked aprons until I started back at @joann_stores in October 2016. I also didn't much appreciate woven cottons. My small frame looks best in flowy fabrics like knits or woven summer weight rayon challis. However, who can resist the colors of quilting fabrics? Aprons are a perfect one-day project. Todays #mmmay18 are socks. Something handmade I pretty much wear everyday. These are sneaker socks made with a wool/cotton blend and the Spring (sprung?!) socks from #knitty.

I LoveLoveLove my Dress No. 1 (pattern by @100actsofsewing). Will make more. This version reminds me of my lower-elementary clothing. Mom says she made dresses for me that looked like this, from old skirts of hers or leftover fabrics. She was always the queen of #restyling #upcycling. Photo 1 shows it without me wearing a bra. So super comfy in this #heatwave the a-line shape doesn't cling, at least in this standard cotton novelty fabric. The fabric was very busy without much contrast, so it begged for this semi-solid in a raspberry which matches a color in the print. Photo 2 is with a bra- still no pulling from the armhole or underarm, no doubt because of the extreme A-line silhouette. I love that the shoulders fit snugly! Usually, to fit my bust I end up with loose shoulders. 3. Preparing to make bias binding. 4. Finished bias tape. 5. Placing pockets. 6. Edging/bias tape applied with two rows of stitching. 7. #mmmay18 day 31, last day. Thoughts... I managed to wear me made every day, until I went away on a last minute weekend, but other than that. I wore a lot of dresses and skirts, an odd blouse/ top. All of which I knew. What I enjoyed: looking at everyone else's me mades and getting lots of inspiration. What I didn't: trying to get decent pictures everyday. But I do love to make clothes and see what everyone else makes.
