Stop The Stigma: People with Invisible Illnesses Are NOT Fakers
I recently read an article titled “Airporky: Lazy passengers are FAKING disability to get a wheelchair at airports and speed through security queues” written by Carolyn McGuire published in The Sun, a UK magazine. This past weekend I received my M+D crutches. I’m slowly getting used to them. They definitely aren’t kidding about working core and upper body muscles. I definitely have to watch out for my shoulders wanting to subluxate and not let myself sink into my elbows and scapula. Hashtag human noodle problems lol. The straps take a little getting used to and breaking in, I was a little worried because it would have meant need my ring splints to bend the straps to get in and out. I managed to get around those issues but other hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos people, your mileage may vary. I could use other crutches or canes well because my wrists no longer will bear any weight and my hand therapist wasn’t thrilled with the idea of those. I showed her the M+D site and she was concerned about my shoulders but thought it might be my best option to try. I’m only 4’ 9" and these adjust to people much smaller, I could really only find one other company that made petite size crutches but those ones were still a little too much wrist for me and my OT. So, I’m excited to get out and about, hopefully, with less hip pain and worry. #ehlersdanlossyndrome #ehlersdanlos #mobilitydesigned #mplusd #crutches #forearmcrutches #hypermobility #hypermobilitysyndromes #hypermobileeds #disability #mobilityaids
