I bet Bortus is a goofball by Moclan standards.
This dude grew, a mustache bc Malloy said he'd look good, ate a napkin, a cactus, and a fork on a dare.
Can you imagine any other Moclan doing that?

The 1940s holodeck simulation and music evoked a powerful parallel between Locar and Alan Turing:
Two of the most brilliant minds of their time reviled and destroyed by the societies they had faithfully served.
--The Orville, S2 E7 "Deflectors"
After watching the Orville episode "Sanctuary" I have come to one conclusion
That this blonde bombshell
Should do the soundtrack to every revolution ever.
Hell yeah
Oh, fuck. If Bortus and Klyden separate, that custody battle is gonna be weird as Hades. Would they have to go back to Moclus? Knowing the kind of person Bortus is, I feel like he would know when to step back and let Klyden take his turn. Bortus has shown that his one and only priority when it comes to Topa is to love him as much as he possibly can and to give him the absolute best life possible. If the custody trial reached a point where the focus shifted from Topa to his parents and their relationship to one another, Bortus would step back and reflect on the situation as a whole. That's just who he is. Bortus wouldn't let this become a battle, which is kind of ironic given the Moclans are kind of known for their weapons testing.
Most union ships are staffed my a single species, but the human ones are mong the most accommodating for other alien species, that's why there's a couple aliens on the Orville, but the majority of the crew is human. (These crew members might be from underrepresented species, like the Xeleyans.)
There's little protocol on dealing with Moclan conflicts bc Moclan captains deal with it quietly.
Bortus is clearly a progressive Moclan, so this might be the reason why he's not on a Moclan ship.

Shoutout to Dolly Parton for being the voice of Revolution for Moclus
kinda feel compelled to write orville fanfic cause holy shit theres so much to unpack in bortus and clydens relationship
ever since the thing with their son/daughter. they love each other, sure, but bortus is on an entirely different level with questioning their homeworlds traditions etc, and i feel like he would act like a completely other person if he were in company of someone ... less solid in their opinions.
im in fucking tears again after that episode about moclus’ heterophobia. bortus not defending that guy but completely willing to turn a blind eye while clyden... urgh. its killing me.
