All 24 hour diners (ihop, waffle house, denny’s, etc) are part of the Spiral. Also, all night-shift employees there are avatars. If you get taken by the Distortion, eventually you can make it to one of these. Other entities and avatars meet there sometimes at night because its kinda a weird neutral territory where reality is strange and no one cares what people there look like
