so I'm a trans guy, and there is a trans guy in my book. the reader doesn't find out that he's trans until he's outed and his deadname is revealed. would that be considered transphobic?

It's not transphobic to have a trans character go through this. But I would suggest being careful with it.

1. If you can, it can be a good idea to leave threats of signs that he's trans so that it doesn't look like his trans identity is only there for one bad experience. (Or show that he's happy.) But a character can just exist as a normal person and I don't know how your story will handle anything, so I'm just speaking in general.

2. Outing him shouldn't be for naught. It needs to be addressed properly. The ones outing him should be taken care of (punished/taught etc.)

3. There's a question we answered before about exposing a character's deadname, I think you may want to take a look. Hope this helps.
