This is Modoru, Lord of Decomposition! 0u0 I see this thing when I think I'm about to die. It is a thoughtless servant of Gaia, the god of Earth itself - a hivemind of all decomposer organisms from fungi to insects. It hangs around when a mortal being is truly confronted with its mortality. I named him for the verb "returning" in Japanese, because his job is to remind beings higher on the food chain of their insignificance and debt to decomposers, which must eventually be paid in flesh.
