Ella of Frell:

She’s had a “gift” of obedience placed on her, and her quest is to figure out how to get rid of it. I love her

he’s under a curse that makes her obey any order given to her. She met her Prince Charming (Char) when they kids, and they became friends. Her stepsisters found out about her curse while they were at boarding school, and because of that (and some things they made her do) she ran away to try and find the fairy that cursed her. When she does, the fairy says that she doesn’t do magic anymore, because she realized her gifts were actually curses, and refuses to remove it. Ella goes back, and is eventually demoted from “lord’s daughter” to “maid”. She still writes letters to Char (currently in a foreign kingdom, but before that, when he came to try and talk to her, her sister forbid her from leaving her room so she would have all his attention), but eventually stops and even writes a fake letter from her sister to convince him that she never cared/doesn’t care about him, because she realized it would be too dangerous for them to be together; with her curse, she could easily be made to hurt or kill him. Flash forward, and Char returns home. The king throws balls, and she goes, because even if she can’t be with or let him know who she is, she just wants to see him again. Char is drawn to her, and for a lot of the three balls, they’re together. At the end, her stepsister gets jealous, and right as Char proposes (because Ella, despite having to lie about her identity, is the most honest person at the ball and a friend already), she grabs her mask, revealing her identity. Char reaches her home before she can leave, and there’s a whole scene where he finds out she’s a scullery maid, that the letter was a lie, and says that she doesn’t have to be Ella if she doesn’t want to be, and she says she’s not, and he asks if she loves him, and she does– and then it’s all ruined because he accidentally orders her to marry him, and then her stepmother tells her to, and all the while she’s fighting the curse, because she doesn’t want to endanger him and their nation, and doesn’t want her step family to be rich and powerful, and finally– she says no. She gets so excited to say no, to refuse, that she didn’t even fully realize she broke the curse until Mandy (her fairy godmother) tells her. Anyway, they all lived happily ever after. Ella is one of my favorite Cinderellas ever and I really hope I did a good job of explaining her and what her story is about (it’s been a while since I’ve read the book)

I was so enraptured with this book as a kid, it had such an impact on my young mind. Got me into fantasy.

She breaks her curse spell in such a magnificent way. Like yes she embodies the whole “kindness” and “courageous” characteristics that Cinderellas are known for, but for her she’s been forced to be obedient as well. And while she thinks can rise above anything she soon learns she will just hurt so many more people that way. She chose to be self-sacrificing because it was the one way she could express her love that wouldn’t harm anyone (then). But! But! She also ends up getting to be selfish! And that is also a great kindness! To herself and to those whom love her and she loves in return.  All that after she breaks the curse.

She can mimic languages. :) She refused to marry the love of her life and thus broke her curse. :) She fell in love via letters. :) She lied to the royal family that orange carriages are very popular in a nearby city.

brave, smart, a linguist, a nerd, she evolves steadily and beautifully throughout the book, with a sharp voice that never stops being distinctive and fun to hang with.

Thurs - Maho Girls Precure! - EP 14 - 16

It is difficult trying to watch this one with out spoiling the sequel... I post this then Tumblr just gives me a bunch of Witchy Precure stuff, I don't want to check out till I'm finished -.- it's so awkward.

Ep 14

That sounds like most people really. However, your telling me that Mirai is good at science but sucks at maths, despite science involving maths or is Mirai only good on the practical end, rubbish at theory?

That's villainy smarts, pulling their resources and experiences together to share and strategise against the Precure... unfortunally, like a lot of things, it doesn't go anywhere, especially past the end of the ep, where it ties into the ep theme.

There is nothing lowkey about that, I thought the point was to keep your cover discreet, be unknown because you'd be in super big trouble if busted?

They said "beneath the land" how is the moon spitting one out beneath anything? On top of that, why don't these Linkle stones just grown on trees with their stupidly easy accessibility... Kinda makes the bad guys seem incompetent when you considered how easy its been up to this point.

EP 15

Surprisingly a Ha-chan focused ep, which boiled down to, parenting is hard and Ha-chan has an array of costume changes, almost blowing their cover.

Got to wonder if any of these will be seen again or if they are just a one ep bit of fun. Also, it turns out Ha-chan isn't as mysterious as they lead you to believe, seems like one of the baddies may know of her. Outside that, there really wasn't an ep here, just a kid being a kid, doing kid shenanigans because they don't understand enough to grasp the situation.

EP 16

Can't say I was expecting to see him again, with a bit of lore and a backstory to, to add to the world building.

Mix of both worlds, was nice seeing the magic trio again, surprised it was in person, I figured due to the not so apparent, not meant to be interacting with each other rule that it'd be some sort of magic phonecall of sorts

This feels like it should be part of a Precure bingo card at this point.

And that is some weird looking CGI, it sticks out so bad next to the background. Surprise, surprise though, the bad guys are shaking up the formula in this ep. I guess the threat of extermination by the big bad would do that for you.

And is this our first official bad guy to fall? Not the one I was expecting to go first mind you but a curious development.

A fun, slice of life trio of eps really of trying to juggle both worlds still and Ha-chan's significance and importance is on the rise. Even after running out of Linkle stones, there's always something else to go after it seems.

EP 32

Lookie, she has a name again, that no one ever seems to use? (If human Daifuku was a thing we could have had a repeat of this scene in Wonderful to.)

Not even sure you could pin that one down to wording ^^" and the football team just magically show up anyway afterwards, despite all wanting to ditch at the beginning?

Not even sure what I was expecting it to actually look like but that wasn't it and we have a novelty of a name to! (he looked better with the leaf...) Not one of this series best designs.

Hold up... are these things the Linkle stones? (And Topaz was the outfit of the day to? Coincedence?)

EP 33

The pair of them managed to do a lot of damage considering.

Design checks out more but those names are going to be easily forgotten.

He tried doing something, so that's got to amount to something.

Ooh, naughty, seriously, you couldn't just leave those two to have a personal moment in peace?

Called it! -.- Although now I'll need to go and dig out a list on what each Linkle stone represents and see how it fits with each ep.

And then he disappears Mary Poppins style, just like the assistant Headteacher... (so what's the point of broom lessons at school?)

This was super underwhelming, Liko clearly had an issue, her Dad clearly had an issue and the ep ends with out either properly speaking about it but act like something had just been resolved???

EP 34

That's a nice notion. (Going to remember that next time some laughs at the notions of ghost hunts) She is certainly committed to the cause though.

Got to admit, next to the magic trio, these two are completely forgettable couldn't have even told you there names until the ep reminded me. Just to have it on record, its Mayumi Nagase (hairpin) and Kana Katsuki (pigtails)

Oof but despite it all, silver lining, Mayumi and Kana became better friends.

Ha, they walked off and ignored him as cheering up Mayumi was more important but when did those three get those badges to put on there?

o.O and a complete speed run of the intial transformation this ep.

The items are so random, is it solely colour association? At least this one made more sense than the Moonstone one.

Oh no, it's another pretty boy with a rather random timing? (when they say others, how many is others anyway? Will they ever actually elaborate?) And does the bee there count as one, or a duo with Orba?

To unironically say this show has lost its charm is an understatement and I say it every week but the Precure element of this show is so weak, you could take it out and barely see a difference. The slice of life between the two worlds is where this story is really at. At the mo, I'm thinking Felice should have stayed as Ha-chan and remind a support over a Cure, there's something about her that's throwing the dynamic off?

Queen Cinderella Charming:

She's kind, she's funny, she learns to use a sword, and she's related to Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Red Riding Hood. She helps the protagonists any chance she gets and even hosts their mother and step-father's wedding. She never gives up and  never lets her fear stop her. Absolute queen (literally)

While she isn't hugely relevant in the story itself, she is always down to help out the protagonists where she can. When they need one of her slippers, she sneaks it into their bag without them noticing. She calls them family. She loves her daughter too, and is a badass mom.

When the main characters need her glass slipper for a spell, she snuggled it into their bag, and she has a daughter named Hope

I think she’s a minor character in the first book, but she’d really nice and stuff!

Because I LOVE HER!! also she has a daughter called Hope who got kidnapped by rumplestiltskin at one point but that is besides the point. She is a strong independent woman and we love those she was NOT about to sit around doing nothing and i love her for that

Settarah:

Settareh lives among her many sisters, being considered an outcast due to the star-shaped birthmark on her cheek. Still,  she is very kind, giving a poor elderly woman most of her money that was to be spent on new clothes for the Prince's party. She is then entranced by a small blue jug that she buys, which secretly grants her wishes, including clothes for the party. When her sisters find out about the jug, they ask it for a way to be rid of her,  and it gives them hair pins which turn Settareh into a dove. Still, she keeps the prince company as a bird until he finds and removes the pins
