I'm fascinated by people who are hung up on figuring out who the "real" king of this or that polity is mostly for the level of cognitive dissonance it demands. All the murder and incest and lateral inheritance and political horse-trading leading up to my favourite guy were perfectly legit, but from that point forward only direct inheritance from father to eldest son counts. Very cool – hey, quick question: how many popes am I holding up?

Theory

Canonically, in Slay the Princess, the Shifting Mound is a Princess because the Long Quiet sees her that way. Beautiful, above him, royal-the exact reason is never explained, but the Narrator gives you his theories.

But the Narrator tries his best to subvert the narrative you've made up. "No, the Princess is not an innocent, she's a part of an oppressive, feudalist power structure, that ought to be destroyed. Worth much less than a seamstress."

So, my question is-did the Narrator have a pre-existing grudge against royalty? Are there still kings and queens and princesses in the world he comes from? Does he have any first-hand experience, or is he just making up points to kill the Princess based off of what he's read in a textbook, a long time ago

I just think it's hilarious that the Shifting Mound is a Princess because you love her, and the Narrator is like "no, no-absolutely not-you monarchist!"

Monarchist and capitalist? So conservative?

I do lean right on a lot of issues, but you do know American-style theocratic far-right conservatism isn't how conservatism works in a lot of places, right? In some European countries, for example, gay people can lean right and the centre-right parties can be very supportive of LGBT rights and women's rights! If you're an American, your Democratic Party would be considered right-wing in a lot of contexts as well, so you might unknowingly be right-leaning too.

Iranians tend to not like anti-capitalism, collectivism, socialism, communism, anti-imperialism, as well as theocracies because those ideologies have hurt the country a great deal. Leftism has hurt the country a great deal, both from inside and outside. The best days of the country were of capitalism and monarchy and a right-wing, secular, and pro-West direction. When Iran is free, I'll make sure to ban any leftist parties and imprison all leftists alongside Islamists.

I value freedom above everything (my own freedom, not other people's, and since I'm a bisexual woman, that includes women's rights and LGBT rights, but not communist or Muslim rights or Tomarry shippers' rights) and I believe in many aspects of classical liberalism (though not entirely because I do not believe I am equal to other people), which might be considered right-wing in some contexts.

But liberal, monarchist, non authoritarian socialists are idealist and knows how to uphold order without being autocratic

Therefore idealism can be a morally good ideology because it is not machiavellian
