I finally made a discourse blog because I'm fucking tired of seeing this monosexual discourse on my dash when it should have ended in 2014.

I'm bisexual myself. The idea of lumping in our LG siblings with straight people is so fucking wild. It's disgusting and homophobic. It's completely ignoring the fact that homophobia and lesbophobia exist, and bi/pan/MGA people can be homophobic and lesbophobic!!!!! Biphobia also exists but it doesn't make us somehow more oppressed or oppressed by LG people. LG people are not the ones in power to oppress us you fucks. Get this discourse off of my dash and my bisexual tags please I'm fucking sick of it.

I don't see enough fellow bi/pan umbrella people speaking out when people in our community pull this shit. It's always lesbians, which, love and bless them, but it's not their job to speak out against people fucking it up in our own community u know? So please spread the word. Monosexual still isn't a thing.

hey mod v...while i agree with you on the sappho's sexuality thing your comments about lesbian visibility completely reek of 'monosexual privilege' discourse and that's homophobic no matter which way you spin it. you can call out biphobia without throwing gay men and lesbians under the bus by claiming that we don't need any more visibility.

Alright let’s talk about this. I honestly don’t know where I stand on the whole monosexual privilege argument because I see a post and I just scroll by don’t even wanna get into it.

That being said within our own community ignoring the straights lesbians and gay men have more visibility than the rest of us. It’s not a lie, and it’s not like with the Black community where we actively push for our issues to be known. From what I’ve seen and experienced that visibility comes from gatekeeping and erasing other people’s identities. 

As a community, we all need more visibility in this straight society but as for intra-community visibility, I’m not gonna act like gay men and lesbians don’t have more for reasons other than fighting for it.

Monosexual privilege isn't a thing! Only straight privilege exists! A lesbian doesn't have more privilege than a bi woman! Lesbians are pressured and told that they should like men! That's not privilege!
