Which totally works for Harringrove, too:
Last Check (Beta Mix)
A Hunt for the Ages
On horseback we rode! Without stopping, leaping over people, and carts, and trees. We made our way to where the child’s house is. Coming upon the ruins of the farm the smoke rises high into the air, Odin could smell the ashes.
The sight was horrendous. We came upon the body parts of the child’s family thrown here and there. Small Fry said quietly, “Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us sinners.”
We slowly trot into the property. And all the sudden the one eyed beast jumps out of nowhere and throws a leg of a mule at us! Brynjor catches it and throws it back, but it is too late! The beast is already on the move!
The King called it Breck.
And so we moved quickly, flying off of our horses, we chase the beast deep into the dark woods. Far into the lands of Cain! Small Fry pulls his bow and arrow and fires to slow down the monster and catches it in the leg. But the creature kept going. We chased and chased the creature till we had it cornered at a cliff side. All of our weapons drawn and prepared for battle we stand awaiting the demons move.
It leaps at Small Fry but Brynjor grabs the poor priest. John hops in screaming “For Valhalla!”
The Bear pulled out her sword and slashes at the monster but a mere slash does nothing to harm it!
I jumped in and started punching it in the arm. My goal. Rip off its arms.
The fight raged on. At one point it ripped the arrow out of its knee and stabbed John with it. That was all the motivation I needed! Screaming loudly I catch an arrow that was flying towards the beast, shove it into the very center of its one eye and then I grab both of its arms and start to pull. With my feet pushing off of the beast I scream one last joyous bellow and both of the arms of the beast come ripping off.
The beast could bare the pain no more and threw itself off the cliff into the depths below, never to be heard from again.
Lifting both arms above my head. “WE ARE VICTORIOUS!!!!”
I need more alcohol. The King will be pleased.
Banquet of Banquets!!
We entered the hall! A great fire rose from the center and all around tankards of ale and mead sat ready for the drinking. Brynjor licks his over sized lips and went to grab the closest tankard to us but before he could grab anything the Bear grabbed the big mans long mane of hair and pulled him to the floor and punched him in the face. Ah the game had begun!!! The Game! Who could drink the first beverage first! I drop all of my things and punched John in the face. Small Fry, who never partakes in our merry-making, stood back and chuckled at us. Brynjor grabbed The Bear’s legs and threw her out the open hall door. John kneed me in the stomach and so I got him in the jaw with the top of my head. But Bear wasn’t playing. She came flying back in. Kicked Brynjor in the head, sending him flying to the floor and poured an entire tankard of ale on her face. The Bear had won. She got first say of all the food now.
And so we feasted. A great Banquet it was. The Gods smiled on us as we got fatter and merrier. Small Fry joined us. He told us tales of the Wise Warrior, a tale I taught him, and of a great king named David. Let me tell you warriors, I like this David. And a Lion-Speaker named Daniel. He has told us many tales in our day, he has a great big book of tales he says. The Lute players, even better than the messenger could have ever explained, sang songs of the Gods, of the Olden Kings, of adventurers into distant lands past the seas, of wars fought against the South-Man. It was a good Banquet!
And before anything began to die down, for the moon was already high in the sky that night, a beautiful maiden, with Golden Hair and piercing green eyes, steps out. The dancing, and singing, and storytelling, and wrestling all came to a sudden halt. We were astonished by the beauty. She was well fed, a good quality for a woman! “Your king comes men! Honor him as you should!”
We began to bang out tankards in unison.
Ah it was a beautiful sight. An honorable king, clad in red and gold. King Dan the Sullen
“THE PARTY CONTINUES!!!!” He bellowed at us!
Who could argue with a king?!
And so it did. And the king sat in his seat and watched us with that famous sullen look of his.
