It's funny how the only two types of dead moms in fiction are "Haunts the people who loved her years after her death, like an image in the corner of your eye that you can't see clearly but know it's there, who's memory shapes every aspect of everybody's lives and who they'll never fully be able to move on from" and "She died offscreen to make the protagonist feel sad for two seconds and now she'll never be mentioned again." There is no in-between.
