A very belated happy birthday to @monsterbane!
>> ❖ @monsterbane
The time had finally come. With the Elder Crossing fading for the time being, ships were allowed to travel back and forth once more, connecting Astera to the Old World through gentle threads. Almost hesitantly, the Commander requested Arston take some time in the Old World for a bit, see if he could find a particular monster that would never take root in the New World. If it was for the good of his new home, the hunter would return to a land he hadn’t tread upon in two years.
Two years was still enough time to forget a lot of the Old World, though. Stepping foot off the ship in the city of Port Tanzia, he was immediately overwhelmed; such a rush of people and activity! Had he remembered the details of his day of departure, he wouldn’t have been surprised, but it still caught him off guard. The air, the sound, the smell-- it was all so different from his new home.
First things first, he needed a guide. Arston was told there’d be a room for him at an inn nearby, but for the time being, he had to figure out what his duty here was. Lagiacrus weren’t easy quarry to find, and he had to find quite literally the best of the best to help him. The trouble is, this is a port city; he knew nobody there, and it would be difficult to get help. For now, the best he could do was scan the groups of hunters, judging their armor and equipment for those that would help... if some would stop staring at his own armor. Given he never changed from his Odogaron attire, he probably looked rather odd.
Someone standing not too far from where he was looked to be wearing Rathalos armor, catching his eye immediately. Not just any either, as it was the hide of none other than an Azure Rathalos. This hunter knew what they were doing, to be wearing garb like that. Forgetting for a moment that he wasn’t in Astera and thus didn’t know anybody here, he walked up to the man, looking up as he waved.
“Hey-- Sorry for popping up like this, but I need a bit of help and you look like you know your stuff. Mind if I ask for a bit of help with something? The New World’s kinda relying on some info.”
I was gonna ask you this through IM, but I instead thought this could POSSIBLY be fitting to have as an ask! So, based on the small description on how star language sounds like in that one post, and I am unsure if you've gone into this more or not (if there's a post already you can nudge me in the right direction!), I was wondering if it consists of the same sounds/language that Lumas make? Or do they have a more unique language going on separate from the star language?
very good question to file into my headcanon tag, so thank u for that!! yes, it does sound very similar to the sounds of lumas! it’ll sound practically the same for humans, though. basically, listen to the squeaky cuteness of a luma, and you have the idea of what star language is like. it’s like that!
bonus round: geno sounds like a squeaky little luma when he snores, sneezes, or gets startled. it’s adorable. that is all.
Send me tumblr users you adore!

There was a large paying job that had coloured V intrigued when he was asked about it by the informant. An unknown demon, striking terror into the hearts of the locals. One had managed to catch a glimpse of it, amidst their fleeing from the utter destruction it was leaving in it’s wake - a deep, soul rattling roar, mixed in with horrific human cries that decimated the area around it, glowing eyes and veins that would pulse ominously...
Like a T-rex, they said. A T-rex head, crawling upon the ground, with the gait of a tiger.
Perhaps a perfect match for his restless familiar - a demon with the appearance of a dinosaur, against Nightmare, a creature once manufactured from brutish nightmares and tortures...
V took the job - not many demon hunters were lining up... and this was much too far from Red Grave to even consider contacting the hunters of Devil May Cry. (Not that he would, with V’s avid determination to completely sever that part of his history.)
Griffon formed upon his shoulders as they proceeded to the destroyed part of the town, seeking this reptilian demon. Concern coloured his voice. “Heya V... you sure ya wanna take this job? I mean, while me, the kitty, and the chocolate sundae sleepin’ on your head aren’t too shabby in a fight... don’t cha think this is, ionno, a little outta our league?!”
“You’re not ‘chickening’ out of this, are you?” His lips twisted in a sort of mocking smile, before returning to a serious expression. “Tears between this realm and the underworld are now frequent thanks to our folly. If these tears are large enough to allow greater demons through... we must hunt them down and destroy the portal.”
Whatever V was to say next was cut off, a deep roar and the sound of things shattering ringing into his ears.
It seemed like whatever this dino-tiger demon was, was nearby.

Oh? Were you about to sit down and have a meal before going out to hunt you stupid little man? You buffoon? You wanna go get those rocks that burn you and take forever to transport, so you wanna eat the right meal which makes it so you can magically jump off cliffs without stumbling— and subsequently making them explode? You wanna go do that quest right now? Huh? Is that it? Is that what you wanna do you absolute fool?
Well. This Orb is in your spot. She's not moving until she gets some grub. Or until she's asked to move, most likely. She's sat there like she owns the place, yet she's only like. Eight inches tall.
She doesn’t even care that this guy is like probably at the very least six feet tall and armed up to the teeth with improbable anime weapons. She could care less if he was ten feet tall and had a dang buttchin, really. She’s not going to move, and more importantly, she’s got a question to ask him. Yes. She talks to him first.
"Hey." She sounds like a baby. "Do you have any money. I'm moderately hungry, and those cats apparently don’t want to get paid in cat treats."

She’s playing a song. Her special lullaby, while sitting underneath the base of a tree. It seemed like such a nice, summer day. The air was thick with the perfume of flowers, all around. She loved this season, it was a time of year when flowers were at their peak. A time of year when trees were such a vibrant shade of green.
Summer was her absolute favorite. But there was another side to summer that wasn’t always as pleasant.
The wind picked up. She hardly even noticed her golden hair flying in the wind. Dark clouds rolled in, and darkened the scene. That’s when she finally stops playing, soon looking up at the sky. It wasn’t long before drops began to fall. A flash of lightning streaked across the sky, and the roar of the thunder wasn’t far behind it.
“...It would seem I am stuck here.” She spoke to herself. She wasn’t about to walk back to the castle in that downpour. Hopefully she would be safe from the elements underneath this tree. She could still feel the droplets that escaped the leaves of the tree, but it wasn’t anything compared to being out in that torrent. Summer storms were unpredictable.
She only hoped it ended soon.
