Where does monsterization begin?
I wonder...if or when Saitama suddenly remembers the ominous future, would he start to view himself as something non-human considering how ludicrous his feats were, become horrified at his actions in almost destroying the earth and monsterize as a result of that?
He's already alienated from his peers for being so strong (Chapter 77 - Bored as usual) and in the ominous future he also seemingly knows about there being no ceiling to anything he wants to do.
(Chapter 167 - I.O)
At the moment, he just did not care about anything besides protecting the core and beating Garou to internalize that fact and then stubbornly clung to Genos core to remind him of his humanity...but I do wonder if it would mess up with his head if he recalled now how messed up it is that he can interact with hyperspace portals like a cartoon character, something he knows is immaterial. And if him losing his memories is his subconscious protecting his mind from that.
It just begs the question "how much does Saitama know about his own powers" and has he subconsciously hidden away the logical impossibility of his feats from himself so he would not go insane or just stubbornly keeps ignoring those facts when they appear to him. If he doesn't think too hard, it's not too bad right? Things like entering Phoenixman's spiritual space, grabbing Void's energy swords, talking and breathing in space and seeing the backside of one's head should be impossible even to the people in OPM universe, anybody would get mental damage from that. Too much mental stress is definitely a factor in him going bald too.
I also keep on wondering if he unlocked some hidden key aspect of himself on the moon that he normally keeps well hidden.
(Chapter 121.5 - Back of my head)
Saitama is practically eldritch in nature, yet he's still human, eating and sleeping and sneezing like normal. Yet even Cosmic Garou wonders if he's still human in there, not once but twice, all but certain after the fight has neared its end. I cannot help but think it's quite ominous foreshadowing.
(Chapter 167 - I.O)
Saitama seems to be clinging to humanity by a hair's breath during the ominous future, so it might only be a matter of time before something bad happens and he loses himself.
