THIS BOOK!!!!!! I’m going to review this book backwards starting from the ending! WHAT IN GODS NAME!!!???? I am so SADDDDD!!!! This book was a whole lot of emotion!!!! Why would you do that @patricknessbooks ?? I saw that ending coming but I refused to believe it and I’m still in denial!! This was somehow even slower in pace then the second book (643 pages) but a lot was happening, a new ship from space landed to see if they could live on the planet, the noiseless men from the ship got infected with the noise, we get the spackles POV, an insight into what the noise really is and the hierarchy of the Spackle. ALSO, Mayor Prentiss is an absolute CREEP! His obsession with Todd was unsettling but damn he is so well written! Todd learns to control his noise and it creates some trust issues between viola and him (a tad hypocritical on her part tbh) and just mess’s things up in the worst way possible. I lowkey think the moral of this series is that men suck and humans are trash because we love control and power and war is one of the best demonstrations of it and makes “monsters of men.” The ending though!!!! I dont think I’ll get over it! Also I can’t with animal deaths, please stop killing the loyal pets in books! I still haven’t gotten over Hedwig and it’s been 15 years! The third book was a roller coaster of emotions and I am here for it! It’s very different from dystopian, fantasy, sci fi YA and I loved the level of complexity it offered.
