tell me about how much tommy grows to like christmas, once it isn't another day set aside to pretend the montagues are an upstanding family tbh

he grows to love it SO MUCH!!! and it’s a little hard, at first, because it’s not like he cares about the gifts and stuff, but to go from a life of wanting for nothing to being on the run and having to pinch every penny... he hates not being able to spoil pip, because he wants to, god, he wants to, and he totally gets creative sometimes, uses transfiguration to make better gifts, but more than all that, he just loves the traditions that they start to fall into it? pip teaches him about driving around to look at the christmas lights, and the snuggle up with butterbeer in the evenings and pip introduces him to all kinds of classic christmas movies, and tommy learns how to cook all the standard fixings, except he -sucks- at stuffing, it’s always too dry, but pip just kisses him on the cheek and tells him it’s great, and they drink hot chocolate on christmas morning and exchange their gifts and then they just sort of cuddle in front of the fire, because it’s not like they have anywhere to be, right? except they do because later in the evening they always go to the local animal shelter of wherever they are and volunteer so the usual people can go spend christmas with their families and and and

Pip + Tommy: things you said while holding my hand

Tommy still isn’t sure about this.

Not the running away, he was sure of that long before they actually snuck away during that final Hogsmeade trip so many weeks ago. It’s just - flying without magic? Sure, he’s realized that muggles were capable of a whole lot more than he’d ever been allowed to believe, but this just seems like too much. Even in the face of Pip’s confidence, he’s… unsure. Definitely not afraid, because Montagues don’t fear anything (another lie, another failure to mar his so-called good name).

He’s jumpy, though, has been since before they even left the inn, but it’s gotten worse now that they’re settled into their cramped seats inside the strange machine Pip keeps reminding him is called an aeroplane. He startles when Pip grabs his hand, and his cheeks darken instantly at the chuckle that the other boy gives. Still, despite Pip’s amusement at his anxiety, Tommy can see the tenderness and care in his eyes, too, and it helps to settle something inside him, if only marginally so.

“I wouldn’a said t’ do this if I thawt it were dangerous,” Pip points out, giving Tommy’s hand a squeeze when the flight crew finally shut the boarding door, “Trust me, yea?”

Tommy swallows hard, and squeezes his hand back. He can do this, so long as Pip is there next to him. He’d face down any number of his fears to know that Pip is safe and far, far away from the dangers of their world; a few hours in a muggle aircraft is nothing. Right?

“I trust you,” he says finally, his voice shaking but honest nonetheless, and Pip’s smile is worth every second of the nausea and turbulence the flight brings with it.

i was thinking about soulmate aus last night and i'm trying to decide which ones i think best suit my various ships and yeah i mean like 98% of these will never get written but yeah

coolmes: the soulmate au where they catch glimpses of each other's lives through the other's eyes from birth right up until a certain point (having sex for the first time? saying i love you?)

ben-squared: i couldn't decide tbh, like, with how close they were, they all just seemed too obvious for it to have taken them so long to get together? maybe the one where they get each other's scars because i don't thiiiink either had super obvious ones?

morter: name tattoos, obvs (see here)

cravy: same issue as ben-squared, tbh? but like maybe the wrist counter ones because they met so many people pretty much at the same time on the first day of hogwarts so they don't know who their soulmates are, just that they go to school with them
