This might take the cake on weirdest book I’ve ever read. The characters were flat, they were interchangeable with those of the same genders as them. The atmosphere, this is maybe the only good thing, it felt creepy, like something bad would happen at any moment. A lone house, in the middle of nowhere, with the world ending around it. That’s how a thriller should be written. Speaking of the writing, this was overwritten and there were just some weird undertones like making innocent situations be described in a sexual manner. Inappropriate and uncalled for. The writer was trying to hard with some of the passages and it honestly made me skim over some paragraphs. The writing was very mundane and then got intense, which is fitting for a thriller as things are usually dull every day life and then everything crazy starts happening. The plot, I have more questions after finishing it then I did before starting the novel. That is never good. Here were lots of loose ends and very vague descriptions of what was actually happening with the plot. My best guess on the main plot of the story is family relationships and how a traumatic event can be frustrating and cause fractures in a dynamic of a family. Again, that’s just a guess. That’s what this book did; it left me with questions and guesses.
