Why modernizing The Selection is a good idea:
It is so bad as a book, that it's good. Just make it a good book so it's good
when I complain about being broke and never having money but then I remember that I read books as a hobby and want to own a mini library with a rolling later at my house.
do I have a personality or is it just a mix of personality traits from my favorite fictional characters? I guess we’ll never know
being a writer is coming up with amazing scene/story ideas at the most inconvenient times. why do I have to come up with a new plot, characters, chapter titles, and tropes all while I'm in the middle of solving an exam that I studied 10 hours for? and then when I can actually write my brain is empty?
society: you can't read sad books just to feel something, it's not healthy
me holding a stack of books that made me bawl my eyes out at 3 am: can't I?
a list of the things that take up space on my brain:
35% of my wips
40% fictional characters whom I'm either in love with, obsessed with, or all of the above
20% random details
5% actually useful stuff
no thoughts just fictional characters
people: you can't make your whole personality revolve around your hobbies
me: hides the piles of books in my room and never talks again
me: thinking I have reasonable standards for love
also me: reads
being a mood reader is picking up a book one day and wanting to stop reading it the next day because you're not in the mood to read that specific book anymore.
the urge to re-read all of my favorite books just so I can annotate and appreciate them all over again, but at the same time not wanting to do it because I could ruin them forever.
me: I hate clichés
author: the grumpy characters has a soft spot for the sunshine one
me: *sobs* THE GRUMPY CHARACTER HAS A SOFT SPOT FOR THE SUNSHINE ONE
