#Repost @hoptilidrop ・・・ Despite the cold, wind, rain, and generally abysmal weather today we decided to have a little trip the the seaside ⛱ I've always taken every opportunity to holiday abroad. I absolutely love mainland Europe 🇪🇺 I'm pretty sure I'm actually a dainty Spanish senorita trapped in the body of a clumsy Boltoner. . This year has been different though. . All my holidays have been cancelled so I've had to explore more local offerings. I'm actually pretty shocked at how little of the UK I've holidayed in! I hadn't realised until this year! Recently I've taken a few trips up North to the lovely sleepy seaside village of Heysham. It's so quaint and quiet, I can't help but feel relaxed. . The motorway was pretty hairy and it was absolutely lashing it down by the time we arrived so we had a brief wander before heading to a lovely little micropub. Despite being teeny they had a great selection of beers - 3 keg and 6 cask to choose from 😋 . I opted for the the simply named American Red Ale from @milestonebrewery on cask. It's been a while since I've had a red ale so this was an easy choice. It doesn't pull in great Untappd reviews (3.29) but I really enjoyed it - perhaps enhanced by feeling all snuggly indoors, out of the pounding rain. It's a traditional brew with a smooth mouthfeel, minimal carbonation, rich maltyness and super bitter. Not the best beer I've ever tasted but it certainly hit the spot. On day's like today it's hard to beat a proper cask ale 👌 . Just made it back home and wondering what to have next.... anyone give me inspiration? . . . . #redale #redipa #paleale #morcambe #lancashirelass #rainydaybeer #realale #ale #beer #craftbeer #beergirl #traditionalbeer #beerselfie #beerstagram #craftbeergirl #caskbeer #caskale #camra https://www.instagram.com/p/CF5Da-JnMJF/?igshid=15fa7ux06ocf9

2. (The sculptures are by Anthony Gormley)
He stood gazing to the Atlantic
He, the nearest to the land
His brothers all already sunk
For a moment I thought him
A foolish swimmer
Soon to be a drowning man
Then I realised and chuckled
It’s just that artist at it again
Puts himself all over the place, he does
Oh don’t fear for me, he said -
My feet are surely set in concrete
I may look like I mean to leave
But I am stayed to this land
The waves just fall and rise each day
And no the sea can’t take me
I am a man of iron
And I feel no cold
No fear
Not anything
I am one of a line
Who disappear, then reappear
One by one, degree by degree
At the turn of every tide
Grafted to the horizon so -
No - nothing will move us
We, with our backs to the town
Like ones who mean to head off
Or perhaps simply waiting
For something to return
