Was Mordred prone to coming & going while Ledala was still around or was that only after the fall?

Mordred definitely had a habit of being gone for days at a time when the mood struck, but not nearly has badly before the fall. Whether that was because soldier movement was heavily restricted in general, or because he had no real reason to leave for long periods of time/as often, I guess we'll never know ;3
