Hi I really like your collinlock16 work!! I was wondering what you think each member of Andre’s chat represents in his psyche (xx_E-G-O_xx and feargeyt6774 being obvious aside)
thank youu!! and I am SO glad you asked.
@journeysfable has a phenomenal little breakdown on each of the members of his chat here that I actually used as a reference while writing, but I’ll expand with some of my own thoughts here.
I’m not a psychology buff or anything but I do think it’s fascinating that the three members in both name and personality match up with Freudian psychology elements: SOUPBEGONE31 is super ego, xx_E-G-O_xx is ego, and SIDIsquish is id. Id is the most subconscious, it strives for needs and wants. This makes sense as SIDI doesn’t care as much as the others about the speedrun, and seems to be the only one who cares about Assimilation in more than a “this thing is blocking my way” kind of way.
I reaaaally like this explanation of the three psyche elements that I literally just found online, but:
"The superego is one’s conscience and is established via identification with parental figures or social groups at large. The ego is tasked with balancing reality with the demands of desire (id) and morality (superego)."
I feel like it’s pretty self explanatory here, SOUP being superego makes a lot of sense not only because of his namesake but because he’s the one that is constantly reminding Andre about the speedrun, about “timeloss”; they are a tangible manifestation of what Andre’s AI and the Admins, a “parental figure,” have programmed to do.
It’s obvious as you said but feargeyt6674 is certainly Andre’s fear response. I have a short post about this observation but when the mods mute feargeyt in the chat, that’s when Andre starts attacking Assimilation (instead of just running by), almost as if they messed with his ability to feel fear in order to continue the run.
Conzercheez is the only one who doesn’t have a clear connection to anything specific, but they likely have something to do with observation and perception: they point out things Andre missed, clip parts of the stream, and are just overall extremely observational. I have no idea what their username could stand for apart from sounding close to “conscience”.
I could probably write an essay on this but I’ll keep it at this for now lmao. I actually had a very short bit that I scrapped in Respite where Andre mentions chat offhand to Assimilation. I’ll try and find it, but it didn’t make the cut because I felt it pulled away the focus from the rest of the story.
Whatever Korra’s plan was for when she reached Republic City, it did not include learning how to change diapers. She followed Asami down the Sato Estate hallway, having met her in Yumiko’s room. It turned out that having Korra’s scent around the pup helped calm her down, and Asami would not miss any opportunity to slow down her 200-volt pup—which she wished could be Korra’s fault, but Asami had not been the easiest of kids. Yumiko wiggled in Asami’s lap, her eyes slowly blinking back at Korra, her chubby legs kicking out.
"Do you want to learn something new, Avatar?" Asami opened the nursery door with her hips, her grip on Yumiko tightening while her legs increased their kicking rhythm. Korra had missed that smirk forming on her lips.
"Sleep!" Yumiko complained, but at the same time Asami knew she wouldn't sleep for another second this morning.
"No, sweetie, it’s breakfast time," Asami said in a motherly tone, laying her daughter on the changing table. From the doorway, Korra saw the Future Industries logo on the polished wood. Had Asami created an entire line of baby furniture just for Yumiko?
"Pancakes! Coco pancakes!" Yumiko clapped her hands, and when Asami removed her diaper, Korra wanted to think about anything but chocolate.
Asami turned, placing one hand over Yumiko’s chest. "Do you remember what I told you?" she asked Korra, whose brow furrowed in concentration.
How could something so small poop that much?
"Korra?"
"Yes, yes!" Korra was ready to respond. She was the Avatar. She could deal with a dirty diaper.
"Good. You can clean her up while I prepare breakfast."
"Pancakes!" Yumiko repeated for emphasis, her legs moving in the air. Korra cringed.
Asami couldn’t suppress her smile as she left the nursery. She watched as Korra gingerly removed the offending diaper from Yumiko, throwing it in the right basket—without airbending, like Asami had made her promise. Asami watched the Avatar’s strong muscles twitch as Yumiko wriggled her naked legs in the air. Serves her good, she thought. It was a small revenge after Korra left her for three years.
"Okay. I suppose you can’t help me here, right?"
Yumiko blinked her icy blue eyes at Korra, her chubby hands in the air. "Pancakes! Hurry!" Her little legs tried to join her hands, and Korra took a deep breath. She almost gagged, regretting the action right away.
"Right. Swipe from the front to the back. Will your mom be mad if I use waterbending?"
"Pan-cakes!"
"I think that’s a no." Korra knew there was a bathroom in the room, and one look at her side showed the sink. She bent the metal and floated a blob of water. Yumiko followed the water with attention, her plump lips parting. "You like water, don’t you? "Perhaps you'll be a waterbender. There's a good chance," Korra said to her daughter, bending the water in small amounts from front to back. "Do you like that? "Maybe you’ll be a waterbender." Korra guided the soiled water back to the bathroom and into the toilet (and she hoped she hadn’t missed it). She got a clean, damp tissue to finish her job.
"Water. Waterben." Yumiko tested the word, her lips clasping around each syllable. Korra used the tissue and then moved on to the baby powder phase.
"‘You need to be careful not to let anything dirty near her vagina’, blah, blah, like I couldn't handle this." Korra mimicked Asami’s voice, and after only two tries, she tied up the clean diaper around Yumiko’s pot belly. "Perfect," she complimented herself, lifting Yumiko and making sure the diaper didn’t fall.
"‘Gina," Yumiko said happily, clapping her hands. Korra’s eyes widened, and she settled Yumiko down again.
"No, no. Go back to pancakes."
"Va-gina! ‘Gina!" She repeated, proud of herself for learning a new word.
"No!" Korra’s frown made Yumiko laugh harder. "Pan-cakes. Pancakes."
"Pancakes?" Her bright eyes blinked in excitement, and she extended her hands so Korra could lift her.
"Yeah, pancakes," Korra said, relieved.
Korra strolled down the mansion stairs, finding Asami alone in the kitchen. A few pancakes were ready on the table, and Asami hummed a tuneless song while she prepared more.
"Mommy!" Yumiko smiled at Asami, who blew a kiss at her daughter while Korra sat her in the high chair.
"Was that okay?" Asami asked. She turned off the stove and brought more food to the table.
"Yeah, I told you it would be fine." Korra smirked, proud of herself. She tried really hard not to stare at Asami’s cleavage as she leaned down to kiss Yumiko’s puffy cheeks. Asami had accepted Korra back into her life as Yumiko’s sire, but what the alpha really wanted was to be Asami’s mate.
One thing at a time, though.
"Did you clean everything?" Asami’s brow arched in question, and Korra nodded, quick to reply.
"Perfectly."
Asami pursed her lips, analyzing Korra’s expression.
"You used waterbending, didn’t you?"
"Maybe a little?" Korra blushed, scratching the back of her head, and sat next to Yumiko.
"Waterben!" Yumiko squealed, angry that the attention had shifted away from her.
Asami leaned down to place another kiss on Yumiko’s face. "Do you think she’ll be a bender?"
"I don’t know. I could use energybending to see if—"
"There's no need for that," Asami interrupted."If she’s a bender, she’ll start bending soon, won’t she?"
Korra didn’t meet her eyes. "Yeah."
Asami took a deep breath. She served herself a pancake on a colorful plastic plate and started to cut it into small pieces, her knife sharp and fast.
"I can help her if she’s a bender," Korra offered, unsure why Asami had become defensive. "She’s my daughter, so the chances are quite high."
"I know that." Asami placed the plate in front of Yumiko, who dug in immediately. "Let’s worry about that if we need to." Korra served a plate for Asami and helped herself to a healthy portion. Yumiko finished her breakfast and patted her plate, asking for more. Korra used her fork and helped Yumiko with one of her own pieces.
"Maybe we could go to the park today," Asami said between bites. "What do you think, Yumiko?"
Yumiko, who was too focused on chewing a big piece of pancake, looked up at the sound of her name. Part of the pancake she was chewing fell on her blouse.
"The park, Yumiko. Do you want to go?"
"Park! Naga?"
"Of course, darling." Asami patted Yumiko’s dark hair. Naga had been a constant in their lives since Korra disappeared. She had come back from the South waiting for the Avatar and ended up living in the Air Temple. The polar-bear-dog recognized Korra’s scent on Yumiko the first time she saw the baby, and had been a good, big, fluffy friend to the girl since.
They finished eating in relative silence, Yumiko’s quiet arguments with herself being the only sounds. Korra helped her daughter finish, cutting the pancakes into smaller pieces this time. When Yumiko was done, Asami kissed her cheek. Korra got the empty plates and brought them to the sink.
"Kiss," Yumiko said, her chubby finger pointing at Korra.
"Does she want a kiss?" Korra asked, already leaning down to kiss her daughter.
"No!" The baby frowned, now pointed at Asami. "End food, kiss!"
Korra stood upright, turning to see Asami blushing while Yumiko continued to argue. "No kiss for food?"
"I kiss her cheek whenever she finishes a meal to encourage her when it’s not always pancakes," Asami explained, a blush creeping up her neck. Korra nodded, kissing her daughter's hair, her cheeks warm.
"Kiss?" Yumiko’s lips trembled, her eyes brimming with tears.
"She gets a kiss too, if she wants," Asami completed, and she looked up at the woman who once promised her the world. Korra sat in the chair next to her, in front of their daughter, and smiled.
"Korra wants," she said, and Asami giggled, and Yumiko did it too, just because. Blushing, Asami pecked Korra’s tanned cheek. It was a quick kiss; Asami’s lips did not linger. They flushed at the kind, almost playful gesture, and Yumiko clapped her hands.
It was their first kiss in three years.
Clearing her throat, Asami turned to Yumiko again. "And what else do you want to do today, Yumi?"
Yumiko mumbled incoherently to herself, her eyes fixed on her hands. Korra hadn’t looked anywhere but at Asami since the kiss, but her head shot to Yumiko at her next word.
"Va-gina!"
Asami blinked. "What?"
"Va-gina, va-gina, va-gina..." Yumiko entered in a loop, and Korra’s face felt hot.
"Korra?" Asami didn’t look at the alpha, watching as her daughter chanted the learned word. "Care to explain?" Korra buried her face in her arms, a booming laugh growing in her chest. Asami blushed deeper at the muffled sounds of Korra’s laughter.
"You will be the one explaining it in the company’s daycare." Asami herself couldn't suppress a smile, and tried to make Yumiko say anything else that didn’t involve a sexual organ.
"Wait, what?" Korra seemed to have controlled her breathing, finally looking up at Asami.
"I said the Avatar will have to explain this—" Asami pointed to Yumiko, who mumbled ‘vagina’ between a set of new words, "—to the daycare center." Yumiko giggled the same way Asami did and threw her hands in the air.
How are Rhys and Vincent as friends and eventually a couple? They both seem to have a mutual understanding of the weight their powers have and being treated as different (Rhys with his mood eyes and Vincent as a person with powers). So would they be the couple that seems to be able to understand each other easier, PDA freaks, quietly basking in each other's presence, etc?
Ok so this got long and we're gonna readmore. I have no control of myself soooo I also worked on this for a while. We won't discuss that I ran hard ff14 content while writing a chunk of this
So first I'll use your ask to say Rhys's bond threads work differently than a mortal's. His show what fate sees the relationship ends as. It colors his perception, but he was more curious about a mortal like Delphia first than in love. His feelings changed much faster than Vincent's.
Now for how they act as friends it's kind of weird. Rhys goes from curiousity to romantic interest quickly. Vincent stays angry and distrustful for years. By the time Vincent has seen them as friends Rhys is in love. He tries to learn all he can about Vincent. Asking about adventures, interests, hobbies, anything he can think of. It's incredibly awkward since Rhys doesn't know exactly what most things are and Vincent spent most of his life locked away or hiding.
Vincent changes his actions towards others not Rhys once he sees the two as friends. While with the god he'll often feign anger or annoyance. He kind of trusts Rhys so he let's a lot more go as time goes on, even the massive fingers touching him now and then. Away from Rhys he's more obvious. He'll snap at others who speak badly about the gods especially the god of love. He'll offer more information when Rhys starts asking questions too. Mention things Delphia made him try, foods he likes, and even just stay outside of the house while Rhys is visiting.
At this point Rhys starts being more active in approaching Vincent. When the human's alone in a field or forest Rhys will show up to check on him. He gets a bit more active in stopping anything that could hurt Vincent too, but tries to keep it subtle. A broken rope that was fine minutes before, unexplained ground shaking, a loud sound distracting others. Vincent likes this more than he wants to admit and it pushes his feelings from platonic towards romantic.
Once Vincent starts to be interested in the god more than finding him cute he starts complaining rather than snapping at Rhys. Mostly calling Rhys oblivious or a doting jerk. He also makes direct choices to kill time in areas the god can show up. He'll find reasons to camp outside rather than sleep in a town or one of the houses littered around the world.
Rhys can't stop himself from smiling when it starts. He ignores their bond color and waits for Vincent to speak up. He is never far from his soon to be partner once this behavior starts. He wants to be close even if Vincent doesn't seek him out. Just making sure the person he loves is safe. His interference gets a bit more obvious too. Vincent has disappeared in a cloud of giant pink petals more than once.
Once they're actually together in a relationship they have startlingly different attitudes towards actual actions and displays of affections.
Rhys is big on PDA. He wants Vincent close and for the world to know he loves him. He almost always has his fingers touching Vincent if he can't hold him. Most of the time the mortal will be found in Rhys's hand, a pocket, or on his shoulders. It's most common to be the shoulder and hidden under Rhys's hair so the other gods don't see him. It's not uncommon to find Vincent jumping or glaring at the sky when he's out in the mortal realm because Rhys decided to sneak a kiss or something. When Vincent is in the god realm he'll be scooped up for a kiss or just a hug often.
Vincent prefers to just be close to Rhys. He doesn't love the idea of the attention Rhys's affection can cause. Although he doesn't exactly hate it. When the other gods are around to see it he complains, but if he actually wanted it to stop it would. He likes the times he and Rhys are together without other people. He just doesn't like to be around a lot of people after the way his life was.
Rhys is also guilty of large displays of affection which Vincent doesn't love. It took only communicating to the god of love through Delphia to keep some weird godly display from being shown all over. Rhys wants the world to know the mortal who captured the god of love's heart. He also hopes it would make things easier when he can't be there as Vincent travels. Vincent gets a lot of giant flowers, new clothes (his size), fancy foods, and tech that may not always exist among mortals brought to where he's staying. If Rhys hasn't chosen to sleep Vincent wakes up to a mountain of things that he could possibly need that day.
Vincent does try to reciprocate the best he can with gifts. He knows Rhys doesn't need things, so he answers in his own actions. Making sure to use something he was left, making up a reason to stay with Rhys for the day, sometimes just saying thank you, telling Rhys he loves him. That last one usually leads to him and Rhys locked in Rhys's room for the day 😏.
They are a kind of silent understanding couple though. Rhys knows when Vincent isn't able to handle his actions. He'll be subdued and give up on the PDA entirely. Vincent on the other hand can just tell when Rhys needs someone to hear him. Vincent has made a point to ignore the eye color changes, there are a few he acknowledges and sometimes for some specific reasons 😏. They also have a habit of sharing a look before revealing their shared opinion on something.
I think I answered this in a bit of a rambly way lol. Hope it actually answers your ask :D
