Lying and deceit is something that happens around narcissism. For those people who have narcissistic traits, they have ‘no regard for right and wrong.’ Lying if allowed to continue, interferes with an individual’s thinking pattern and their life.
Narcissism is a personality disorder that stems from mental health issues. Narcissists only see life from their own vantage point and think the world revolves around them. They have a disregard for other people’s feelings, they have an excessive need for admiration, have a sense of entitlement and can struggle to handle any criticism.
Narcissistic only see their truth, which often is distorted. They will continue to see what is in their best interest and make their life about them.
Unless someone with narcissistic behaviour traits is able to see for themselves that they are narcissistic, you cannot help them change their behaviour. It is something they will need to see for themselves.
If you’re around someone who presents with narcissism, discussions that may seem harmless can turn into heated arguments and frayed tempers. It is important to keep yourself safe and make sure that what you’re doing is in your own best interests.

When I learn more about my disability, I learn more about myself and I’m still learning things about myself. I know I have flat affect. It is the result of unusual brain activity, slightly more complicated in my case, because my emotions are impaired through cerebral palsy. One area of my brain that isn’t active is the one which is responsible for emotional response, in other words a function of alertness, level of distraction, vigilance, a direction of attention and stress. It controls how ready a person is to perform tasks in a timely and effective manner and in response to daily experiences and is what I struggle with. I cannot translate an emotion into a physical reaction. Others with flat affect may feel emotions, but may not show it on their face or through their actions. I don’t respond in the same way as someone who doesn’t have a brain impairment and who doesn’t experience problems with a lack of emotions. Flat affect is a symptom of other conditions, in my case Autism that is brought about through cerebral palsy. It is not a condition or disorder on its own.
