In keeping with Lyme awareness month here's a photo of some of the meds, supplements and injectables I use on a daily basis to support my health. . After going 2 years undiagnosed I went through a year of antibiotic treatments. After that I decided to pursue a more natural, holistic 🌿 approach to healing and did the Dr. Cowden herbal protocol for 9 months. I also tried Low Dose Immunotherapy (LDI) for over a year. Today I use essential oils, whole leaf liquid Stevia, a ketogenic eating plan, intermittent fasting and more. . I've given myself B-12 injections several times a week to help treat the debilitating fatigue. And when I was finally able to get out of bed I went to physical therapy to help regain strength due to weight loss and muscle wasting I experienced. . The thing about untreated Lyme and co-infections is that when the bacteria has free rein over your body for so long it can damage every organ and system. My doctors always say that it's like peeling back the layers of an onion. There are so many issues to address so we take them one by one. . I haven't always been a good little patient - far from it. 🤪 Before Lyme I'd go and do then push myself to do more - so being forced to slow down has been a battle of wills, so to speak. With this you're forced to stop and being stuck in bed for months on end really doesn't leave you many options. I've resisted this process many times... But that's for another post. 🤣 . I believe that God created us for a purpose and that I'm here on this Earth for a reason so much greater than myself. If you have Lyme or other chronic illness know that you matter. ::Remind Yourself:: Each moment of every day that you are wherever, with whoever, at any place or time because that's where you are supposed to be. It is a hard thing to do, especially when the days fly in and out with very little room for protest... it can feel like flying, yes- but it can also feel like falling at times. So in every moment that feels out of your grasp or control, a reminder message should whisper in the back of your mind "this is not the whole of you... this is only a fraction..."---- When you wake up to hands and feet that seem stuck in one position and you begin to feel yourself already doubting the day... when the sleepless and nauseous days leave you feeble and shaking and you feel lost inside something that you've been battling for too long (whatever that may be)... let that voice be louder than your doubt and move a little slower. Accept what you cannot control and live in this moment (because good or bad, you will never have one exactly like it again)... Instead of succumbing to the pain and fear, use it for strength and use it as a fire beneath you. Stretch your locked up fingers, even though they try to fight you and do something to remind yourself that you are still the same person beneath that falling feeling. You are more and will continue to be more because this is exactly where you need to be now and it is exactly where you need to be to see your future in a clearer light. You are you. You are here. •October 13• the day my life forever changed. The day I discovered the cause of my suffering that went on for months without answers. The day that I will forever be grateful for not only because i had a name for the thing that has plagued me for most likely years of my life, but because of the strength and wisdom I now posses. The past year has undoubtedly been the hardest year I will *probably* ever have to go through from dealing with infected picc lines, to ER visits, countless migrating symptoms, horrible doctors experiences, lack of support, allergic reactions...Lyme disease has already stolen SO much from me and it probably will continue to steal from me for my entire life...however, Lyme has allowed me to become a better version of myself in ways I never thought a shitty disease could. I have more compassion for human life and suffering than most 20 year olds. I am way more in touch and knowledgeable about my body than I would be if I were healthy. I know more about medicines and herbs and bacteria than the average person should/will ever have to know....and most importantly... I have an appreciation for life, the human body, and medicine that *most* people will never fully experience in their life. I am SO grateful that I am able to receive the treatment I am getting and also for the progress I am making (as small as it may be). I am grateful for all the people i have come into contact with who have helped me with this journey. And lastly, I am grateful to you, #lymedisease for shaping me into a person that is stronger, wiser, more compassionate, grateful, and resilient. October 13 is the day I can look back and see how far I have come not only in my Lyme journey but as a person. So thank you Lyme, bartonella, babesia, Ehrlichiosis, and mycoplasma for making my body your home and teaching me the lessons only chronic illnesses can teach. I will always be stronger than you and I am #morethanlyme

Every spoonie needs her real live Pillow Pet. He doesn't judge me if the pain is too bad to get out of bed... (Except when I get lazy about feeding him... I mean... He's a monster- it's insane. Feeing so #thankful and #happy today. I am able to walk down my whole driveway without feeling like I'm going to pass out or having disabling dizziness. Just a few months ago I couldn't do this. Might not seem like a lot to most ppl but this is HUGE. I used to be completely house bound and mostly bed bound for months earlier this year and half of 2015. I used to PRAY and HOPE for a day like this where I could simply go outside and enjoy the day/sun without having horrendous neurological symptoms. I'm constantly AMAZED at how much the brain, body, and mind can heal if we allow it and give ourselves the proper caring and self love it deserves. I still have a lot of healing to do and I know I'll still have lots of ups and downs but i now know that there is HEALING with #chroniclyme , #bartonella , #babesia , and #Ehrlichiosis. The road to wellness with #lymedisease is a long and lonely one but there is ALWAYS hope if you don't give up on yourself. Any step you take is a step in the right direction if you have a positive outlook despite the odds. We are all SO much #morethanlyme (at Medina, Ohio)

When life is getting too real and the weight of all doubts and fears begin to close in... Remember that you are loved. Remember that, even though your thoughts are heavy and your body is struggling, that there will be better times. Better days. Better and bigger adventures. Remember to give yourself a break and cut yourself some slack. Just remember that you are loved. In a world that moves too fast and a society that seems to judge you on your capability to "keep up"... Just forgive yourself and accept yourself for all the reasons you cannot "keep up". I believe that a funny thing happens when we admit who we really are inside--- external stress and forces fade and all you are left with is your own level of personal happiness- and isn't that what it all boils down to at the end of the line? There are changes on the horizon and new points of attack... But this picture made me smile on a day where all I could do was cry. It made me smile because, despite the pain and fear I feel (we all feel, on different levels) this is a picture where someone captured a genuine moment of bliss... I guess we all need pictures to remind us in those dark times of the much lighter times. I think looking at this will help me with some tough and intense times that are undoubtedly coming up.
