MORTAL GODS
Fear of the unknown keeps man within his boundaries
Faith instills that fear within us
And we crouch, head bowed nonplus
For we are food for worms
And that reality is too subtle to learn
So we hide behind the illusion of faith
Created by man, on the eighth
And if we could rise above the deceit
Could we lose the facades?
For the world is filled with mortal gods.
Who do we blame?
For we all share the credit
So machinistic in our approach
We forget the darkness laid around in arcs
We see, but we can’t embrace light
Dissolved in a pool of gloom, our plight
But it isn’t too late to rebel
To lay down the Holy Ghost
Rip up from the root, the frauds
I ask, can we beat the mortal gods?
