Some unsolicited opinions on the first two eps of season 3:
1. Truly believed infected batel was going to impact the plot more. I wonder if it was originally since it was teased in the finale but then jumped to the characters already knowing. Like were baby gorns going to raid the ship?
2. I had a lot of fun with these eps but tbh they fell a little flat in some areas. I think part of it was because they’d released promo pics of ortegas so we knew she was going to survive and therefore it lacked the full force “OH FUCK NO” it would have gotten from me since they’ve killed a major character before and was within the realm of possibility, but i still very much said “get your damn hands off my girl!” Because im protective of my boo and i want her to be okay damn it.
3. I am so ready for La’an’s rebranding, for lack of a better word! I cant wait to see her fun side in full force!
4. I actually liked that they spent some time flushing out Korby’s character! I like knowing that he makes her happy and is actually stupidly in love with her, as he should be.
5. But again, its an ep where Chapel is used to serve Spocks arc. Like, imagine if instead Christine and Korby were the ones aware of whats going on and christine had to come to terms with letting spock go (despite knowing she still loves him to an extent since it shows up in TOS), but also allows us to see the chemistry between Korby and Christine and highlight for the audience why they were a better match for each other. But no. It was about Spock.
6. Beautiful speech he gave though 😭
7. Oh and also, sassy Spock is a coming! We got a taste with the comment “i doubt your intellect shielded your mind” and i cant wait for him to fully read people!
8. But yeah, im so ready to see Chapel without Spock. I want her to have stories with Ortegas and Una and La’an. Hell, even Sam. Lord knows he needs someone to tether him into the plot since the writer’s wont do it!
9. Yes! Lets give Uhura love! She deserves it! And what a couple of cutie patooties! My only concern with them giving us more characters is that we’re not going to get enough time with them, just like how we haven’t gotten enough time with Ortegas, Sam, Pelia, or even Una. But i hope Una bangs the bartender. Thats a win for me ;)
10. That being said Mortegas! Finally! I hope they don’t resolve this too quickly and they let it really build.
11. I liked the call back (foreshadowing i guess?) to trelane and Rhys Darby was a perfect casting choice! My only issue with it (very tiny) is that it sort of takes away from TOS. Cause now, Spocks seen all this shit apparently and just kept it to himself. Which is kind of on brand for TOS spock, but all the same
Can’t wait for the rest of the season! Especially episode 4 cause it looked campy as fuck and i am here for it
This is from 2023, I can't remember the details as to WHY Star Trek characters would be transmogrified into Barbie art, but they were. (Oh, duh, it was in relation to the release of the 2023 Barbie movie.)
The various Star Trek enterprises, uh, series, have a good representation: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (#Mortegas!); Star Trek: The Next Generation (Picard, Riker and Bev Crusher); Star Trek: The Original Series (Kirk, Spock and Uhura); Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Ben Sisco); Star Trek: Voyager (Tuvok) and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Quark).
From CGM Magazine (via Yahoo); a brief excerpt of the article (please follow the link for the complete article):
..."But it’s Melissa Navia’s Ortegas who finally steps into the spotlight. After two seasons as a beloved background presence, she’s given a well-earned season-long arc that explores her backstory and deepens her role on the Enterprise—and the payoff is more than worth the wait..."
A fantastic one-hour discussion of all of S2. Everyone gets to talk about favorite character moments, bts experiences, difficulties and challenges and the future.
Rebecca Romijn really wants us to know - she said it twice, and everyone concurred - that in S3 we'll get what everyone's been wanting and asking for since day one:
