Mortis engine just about done
Strigani close-ups
Incredible art from Age of Sigmar’s Legions of Nagash supplement.
Made a bit of painting progress today. Not much. Some largely imperceptible touch ups to the mortis engine cage, grave guard caught up and 5 of the wolves moved a bit ahead in their greens. The comission models finished up their black and btown washes.
The most time went into the mortis's spirit tower, though, which is kind of a tangent, since there was a point when I considered it done already, and it's definitely not getting basic units done to get me closee to a runnable army. But I am trying to get the cage into a workable shape so that I can glue it onto the tower, and ince it is on the tower it'll be a lot harder to make changes to it, so... yeah. Anyway, the main changes were adding in some darker greens and blacks to some of the clothy, wraithy bits. Just, getting a bit more variety into it, because it's an awful lot of surface area.
Anyway, what little I did necessitates a lot more that I'll have to do, but I'm already a lot happier with it, so I feel like I'm on the right track, despite this being yet another big distraction.
So here you can see the mortis engine I did before and after the dry brushing and glazed. Hope you enjoy it.
I made another Mortis engine! And I used real labradorite for the gem.
First ten skeletons done but for the shields, which will be tomorrow’s project. Was supposed to finish those today and work on Nagash tomorrow, but got distracted by my Mortis Engine & Balewind Vortex, pictured before and after nihilakh, both of which are part of an army I want to run in a couple weeks.
Not that I have any compunctions about playing with unpainted models, but I prefer the models to be at least mostly assembled first, and unfortunately the Mortis Engine kind of needs to be painted in chunks before final assembly. The dark cagey bit on top isn’t actually affixed to the ghosty pile carrying it yet. I want to get to the point that I can glue these two pieces together before the game, so they have to actually be done. There’s more pieces to the model than that, but those are the parts needed to get the general shape accross.
As for the Balewind, I assembled it today, and it looked simple enough to paint, and would count as a completed unit for dread portents, so I decided to just work on it along with everything else. Both it and the mortis still have a ways to go, but they are far enough along to see more or less what I’m aiming for with them.
