Before Trinity went to bed that night, she was talking on the phone with her friends.
"Are you guys okay now? That was a pretty rough night?", she asked.
"Well I'm still alive, I think that counts for something. I'm just waiting for my powers to come back.", said Nicky.
"We're mostly worried about you, Nicky. You were trapped in that house for a whole month and Hell knows how many times you've been injected with that suppressor.", said Maritza.
"And God knows when you're gonna regain full power.", said Enzo.
"Yeah, you guys are right. But as long as there's no side effects, I think I'll be fine. Hopefully.", said Nicky. "By the way, did someone call the cops? Did someone else suspect anything up with the Petersons?"
"I called the cops, Nicky.", said Ivan.
It was silent on all of the lines.
"Yes. As I was in my holding cell, I snuck out Murtaugh's phone when he came to inject me. He thought I was sleeping. I waited for the right moment to call them.", said Ivan. "Just because I don't have my mind powers doesn't mean I'm not as smart."
"Dude, why didn't you just call the cops while you were in your cell?", asked Delroy.
"It was too early at the time, Delroy. I needed to wait until the perfect moment to call them so they'll catch Franklin in action. Now everyone will know he's a monster."
Trinity rolled over on her belly. "How're your folks feeling? Were they crying? Screaming?"
"My folks were so guilty when they saw me. They couldn't believe Franklin was such a monster, and they thought I was only spending so much time with the Petersons because I missed them.", said Nicky. "Not in a million years."
"Our folks were pretty worried when they came to pick us up. And even more so when they saw Maritza's leg. I especially felt guilty, because I wasn't around her to prevent that.", said Enzo. Ignoring his sister on the other line, who said "I literally told you to go on without me."
"My dad hugged me closely and tightly when he found out what happened. Apart from everything else, this has really been a good night for me.", said Finch.
"As soon as my mom came to pick me up, the first thing she did when I got in the car was smother me with kisses and hugs. It was nice to feel that, but I don't want her to blame herself.", said Ivan.
"None of us want our folks to blame themselves for what happened tonight. My aunt made me promise I'd never make her worry like that again, and she fell asleep on my lap while we watched TV.", said Delroy. "What about you, Trinity? Are your parents okay?"
Before Trinity said anything, a knock at her door interrupted her. She put her friends on hold and opened it to find her mom and dad there, looking at her with worried eyes.
"Hey, Mom. Hey, Dad.", she said.
"We just wanted to check on you, make sure you're doing okay.", said her mom. "How's your wrist feeling? It's not broken, is it?"
"No, it just hurts when I put too much pressure on it. But I think it'll be fine.", said Trinity.
Her dad took her other hand in his, "Are you sure you're okay, honey?"
Trinity nodded. "As long as Nicky's alright, I'm alright.", she said.
"I'm sorry we doubted you.", said her mom. "We promise it won't happen again."
"We just didn't want a repeat of what happened in our old town, and we let that man into our home -"
Trinity pulled her parents in for a hug.
Like Delroy said, no one wanted their folks to blame themselves for what happened, and Trinity didn't want her parents to blame themselves for not trusting their daughter more. At least they realize their mistake and they're making up for it.
"I'm not mad at you guys.", she said. "I'm just glad to be home."
Before she let go, both of her parents each gave her a kiss on her cheek.
"We love you.", said her mother. Her father agreed with her as they shut the door on their way out.
Trinity went back to her bed and continued talking to her friends.
"Yeah, my folks feel pretty guilty, but it's not their fault.", said Trinity. She yawned, "Anyway, I'm gonna go to bed. We'll meet again tomorrow, okay?"
Trinity hung up her phone and sat it down on her bedside table before she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Meanwhile, at Raven Brooks Police Department, Franklin was in one of the holding cells, arms crossed and looking straight ahead with fire in his eyes.
That night, he came to a conclusion.
If those brats wanted to play a dangerous game, then that's how it'll go.
