Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, 1985
Are you a Les Mis enjoyer? I have an essay about the inclusion of multi-ethnic literature into western canon. I chose Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (good book btw, also very mid 1800s). And one of my main arguments is its relation to other canonical works on the topic of morality! (and religion). So I was like, "what canon do I know that is about morality."
So Les Mis it is, even though I've never read it or watched it 🤭
I just read the Wikipedia plot summary, so I'm, yeah, I'm basically an expert now
Well I've never read the book haha, though I've listened to the musical a bunch. So I wouldn't call myself an expert, but an enjoyer yes

Luna Gauthier reviews Mr. Breakfast by Jonathan Carroll, a novel about choosing a life, but living with consequences. Available January 17!
Mr. Breakfast (Liu Fu Ju), 8118 Garvey Ave, Suite B, Rosemead, CA 91770
Mr. Breakfast opened recently at The Square. The Chinese restaurant name is totally different, Liu Fu Ju. Breakfast and noodles are served till 3 PM. From 3 PM – midnight, stir fry dishes and grilled items are available. It’s pretty authentic – they serve hard to find items like bull penis, lamb haggis, mutton haslet soup, and lamb spine, traditional Tianjing dishes, handmade dumplings, steamed buns (baozi), pancakes, etc.
Soy milk ($2.49): Served unsweetened in a styrofoam cup, their soy milk tasted a bit watered down but not grainy or burnt.
Purple sticky rice roll (fan tuan, $5.99): Liked the use of purple sticky rice (vs. white rice). The rice roll had the usual you tiao (fried donut stick), pork floss, egg omelette, and pickled mustard greens. The rice was a tad mushy and the big donut stick wasn’t crunchy at all. The roll was served hot. The construction looked a little sloppy but it still tasted good and not salty.
Frozen dumplings are also available to take home with you. The restaurant looked newish and clean. It’s fairly large. Service was friendly. Parking can be tough even though the parking lot is huge. I’d like to try their steamed buns (what they’re known for). Cash only.

Black Pudding and Haggis
Black Pudding and Haggis
Black pudding was on the plate for our first full English breakfast in London, and I did try it. It was kind of grainy and I didn’t particularly enjoy it. I’ve heard it’s an acquired taste. On the other hand, haggis was on the menu for our last formal meal in Scotland, and it was delicious. It kind of reminded me of stuffing, but meatier and richer. I think haggis has a bad reputation in the…
