This is another part of the Slappy Stays au but with old faces coming back.
Sam’s older cousin is on the baseball team and are competing in a league. There is a game in town soon so Sam and Sonny decided to go (and Sarah since she has too to take care of them).
Slappy thought it would be a good time to get out of the how and begged to go with a disguise (hoodie with sunglasses and mask) and Sarah reluctantly agreed but she is the one who had to carry him and says that he is a cousin.
Days before the game, Sonny and Sam are giving directions to two boys to know where the stadium is. They find out that one of the boys they meet is playing against Sam’s cousin.
The day of the game is finally here and there's a lot of people there Sarah, Sonny, Sam, and Slappy got seats in the middle but they didn't complain. As Slappy was scanning the crowd, he had to do a double-take. A girl in the front row, with some empty seats next to her, turned around towards the crowd, as Slappy turned away because never in his life he thought to see her again. But then he heard a familiar voice as he watched a teenage boy, 2 blonde women, and his Papa took their seats next to his sister Hanna.
Slappy immediately tells the others that Stine is here They all panic and as they now see Stine in the front and Hannah (who they didn’t know that Hannah and Slappy we technically siblings) Sarah mentions that since Stine must be here for the game, they don't have to worry about Slappy that much...
Until the teenage boy recognized Sonny and Sam as they regretfully recognized him The teen smiled enthusiastically and stood to walk over to him. Slappy is angrily asking them why is he coming towards them until Sonny said that the two guys asking for directions was one of the opposite team’s players, Zach, and his friend Champ.
Champ sits next to Sam and starts talking to the two boys as they tried not to act weird while Sarah pretend to ignore them and held Slappy away from Champ as Slappy also turned away. It was fine for a moment until Sonny accidentally said that Sarah is a writer Champ then started to ask her questions then mentioned the guy who drove them there is Mr. Shivers who is also a writer and can get advice from him Sarah thanks him while she heard Slappy grumbling about his papa.
Hannah then waved to Champ to get back but Lorrine tells Hannah to meet Champ's new friends so she goes to them.
Slappy is mentally screaming this whole time and wants to disappear as soon as Hannah got close. Slappy asked Sarah where can he hide. Sarah says the car but it's kinda hard to get out with all these people
They watched the game for a while (although it became less enjoyable with his family being too close to him) Sarah noticed that some people were moving She tells Slappy that she can sneak them out now.
As Sarah was making her way out, Hannah stood up to move aside a bit. A ball comes flying at them with the girls not knowing but Slappy sees it. He whispered loudly "Hannah" as he shoved her head down as it nearly hits her. Everyone is shocked by the ball but Sarah used that to run to her car.
Hannah stood up again but went to her dad and told him that the little boy sounded familiar and the hand did not feel human. Stine told Hannah about an abandoned book that he left behind in this town but because he kept it well hidden, he didn’t have to worry about it, or he thought. There’s only one monster in that book and Stine knew that this one wasn’t exactly the same as the original, he was still dangerous.
Stine and Hannah stood up and went after Sarah. Sonny watches this and tells Champ that he needs to use the bathroom Sonny leaves and calls Sarah (Slappy answers) and tells them that Stine and Hannah are after them.
Sarah is running towards her car, (why did she park so far, she thought) as Slappy sees that Stine is after them, telling Sarah to stop and that the thing in her hands is dangerous. Sarah yelled back that this was her cousin and that he’s a weirdo (just in case anyone is listening). As Sarah almost makes it to her car, Hannah comes out of nowhere and almost tackles Sarah. Sarah manages to get Hannah off her but Slappy’s hoodie and maks fell.
Sarah stands there with Hannah blocking her way to the car and Stine behind her.
Stine orders her to give Slappy to him.
Slappy clings onto Sarah harder as he shakes. He didn’t want to go back in the book. He spent years being abandoned for who knows how long until he finally found a family who won’t leave him behind. Can’t his papa leave him alone for once? He should be worried about the other pampered puppet (of course he didn’t know what happened to the original Slappy)
Sarah yells at them that they were not going to have Slappy. Stine and Hannah argued how Slappy is too dangerous to be let out and that he needs to go back in the book.
As Stine and Hannah were coming closer towards Sarah, Slappy was tiring to think of a way to escape. He then had a thought as he was about to tell Sarah his thoughts, she told them something that made him stop.
Sarah explained to them that if they were to ask her months ago, she would have gladly given him to them. She told them how she wanted to get rid of him since day one and even had Mr. Shiver’s number ready to call just in case. At first, she wanted nothing to do with him, but the more time he spent with the family and understanding him, the more she started to consider him as a brother. She started talking to him more and understand how he felt being trapped because she felt like she was trapped herself. He even helped her with her writing and because of that, it got her into the school she wanted. But now she has to go and leave her family. But she wanted him to stay to be with them since she couldn't. She's going because he helped her and wanted her to go because he could never since he was a dummy (puppet, he corrected).
She even mentions how Stine abandoned him for years and now decided to take him back made her mad. She knew about the monster break out and asked what happened to the original Slappy.
Stine responded with that Slappy being trapped in a book with all the other monsters after. But he knew what the Slappy in her hands could do. And he's afraid that the same story of monsters roaming free will happen again.
Sarah then argued that Slappy could have done that a long time ago and that it's been months since they found him. She also knows what he can do because they read his book but noticed that it wasn't finished. She mentioned that this Slappy had a bit more freedom to do what he wants with himself and the fact that he wanted a family and found one, he wasn't going to use his powers to bring monsters to life. She even mentioned that they made a deal with him if he wanted to live with them and it hasn't been broken yet.
Stine still argues about Slappy backstabbing them at any moment.
This made Slappy angry. He then yells at them to go pampered the other Slappy that he decided he like so much. The fact that his book was never finished hurt. He then asked why was he created but to be left halfway when Stine already had a completely finished one he favored. The way that Stine had forgotten about him until now actually stung. Slappy then says that he finally found a real family that he was happy with. Siblings that he could actually get along with. And a mother's love. Something that he wanted the most because that part was written in the book. And how dare Stine try to take that away from him.
As he was about to say more, a speeding car came out of nowhere but stopped next to Sarah. Hannah and Stine moved out of the way. But Sarah knew who it was.
Sarah watched the window go down as Mr. Chu told them that Sonny called him and to get in.
Sarah jumps in quickly while Stine and Hannah barely realize what was happening.
Mr. Chu drove off quickly, as he asked if they were alright.
Mr. Chu knows about Slappy after an accident with his decorations coming to life (but not in a bad way but Sonny and Sam were curious to see how the decorations would move) No one was hurt but Mr. Chu was very excited that Slappy was alive and existed as he asked him a lot of question. He also promises never to tell anyone and is one of Slappy’s only friend who was older. Sometimes Slappy would use his magic just to show off and he already knew that Mr. Chu would not tell on him.
Sarah tells him that she's alright but Slappy is still shaken about seeing his papa after many years.
She tells Chu what happened and was told that Sam's family will drop off Sonny. He tells Sarah that he will drop her off to get the car tomorrow.
They thank him as they finally made it home. Sarah decided to watch a movie but Slappy stayed near a window looking out. He was afraid that they might follow him but Sarah told him not to worry and to join her. He thought to himself to not to worry and decided to join her.
Eventually, Sonny did came home safely as he told her that Sonny and Sam sat next to his family and avoided Stine’s people and managed to get away from Champ who was asking too many questions.
Idk when the second part will come since I'm still working on stuff. but I kept this part for too long.
