So I've been thinking of a potential Clue/Cluedo AU for Happy Tree Friends. I can't come up with a name for it yet but I do have ideas.
Mr. Toothy Boddy -A rich and successful man. Invited the suspects to a "party" with the intent of ruining and/or blackmailing them. Very vain and focused on his appearance.
Miss Giggles Scarlet -A seductive and flirtatious actress. Used to be best friends with Toothy.
Colonel Flippy Mustard -A cold, stern military bear. His years in the war have left him...troubled to say the least. Can be extremely dangerous when provoked.
Mrs. Petunia White -The maid of the house who's always busy gossiping. Knows more than she lets on. Has a jovial, happy mask to keep others from suspecting anything.
Mr. Shifty Green -A conniving business man with a shady past and ties to crime organizations. Constantly blames himself for his brother's death.
Mrs. Lammy Peacock -A wealthy socialite with a trail of dead husbands. Subject to many rumors, with some thinking that she's insane.
Professor Sniffles Plum -An eccentric archeologist and scientist. Came up with Project Splendid which went horribly wrong. Has a tendency to be absent-minded and stubborn.
To go more into detail about why I chose who to pick who and potential motives and details:
For starters there is no death curse/death loop in this AU. If you die you stay dead.
I chose Toothy to be Mr. Boddy since both are kinda generic "placeholder" characters. This does mean Toothy's more of a dick in this AU to fit into the characterizations and motives. He was at one point as innocent and good-natured as his canon self, but those days are long gone now.
Giggles was childhood friends with Toothy. I don't know what happened exactly yet, but something went south between them.
Giggles and Flippy made the most amount of sense for their respective roles (Giggles's flirtatious-ness makes her a good fit for Miss Scarlet who's a femme fatale, and Flippy is an obvious pick for Colonel Mustard as a military man).
Speaking of Flippy, he served in the war for longer than canon (in canon he's only a Sergeant). This understandably gave him more issues than in canon.
Petunia made the most sense for Mrs. White as the former's the one who's most obsessed with cleanliness and the latter is most often depicted as a maid. In terms of motive I haven't got her too figured out atm other than trying to avenge her unfortunately late husband Handy.
Mr. Green was surprisingly difficult, mostly because there is no corrupt businessman character in HTF. The closest you could go is probably Lumpy in "We're Scrooged". I decided to pick Shifty instead since he's already pretty greedy.
Shifty's motive is easy enough: His brother Lifty got killed in a heist gone wrong. Feeling guilty about this, he starts a "legitimate" business which Toothy threatens to shutdown by revealing his various crimes and scams.
BTW, if you wanted Reverend Green instead of Mr. Green, you can have it to where Shifty is killed instead of Lifty. Presumably this leaves the latter to become a corrupt pastor of some kind.
Lammy in this AU has a regal, "grande dame" air to her. She can be rather pompous and arrogant. All of her husbands have mysteriously gone missing, leading some to suspect her of being a black widow.
Sniffles is a scientist and archeologist. He comes up with Project Splendid, an attempt to create a real-life superhero. He used Toothy's older adoptive brother Sully (Splendid in this AU) as a test subject. Things went horribly wrong resulting in Sully's death and Toothy has never forgiven Sniffles for it.
The Cursed Idol is actually in one of the rooms of Toothy's mansion.
