An Andromeda Tale: Book Two

Title: A Foothold in Andromeda (An Andromeda Tale, Book Two), Chapter 1

Fandom: Mass Effect Andromeda

Pairings: Endgame MReyder, prior Reyes Vidal/OMC, Reyes Vidal/Zia Cordier

Summary:

Having established a colony, Scott Ryder is given new orders that set him on a collision course with Andromeda’s native inhabitants. Will he convince them he’s a friend, not a foe?  

Meanwhile, bruised and battered from losing Tefa, Reyes agrees to work with Keema Dohrgun, hoping for a new start on Kadara. He finds that Kadara is more than just a new start; it might be what he is destined for. 

Tags/warnings:  canon typical violence, sex. First meetings. 

Things do not feel better the following day. Or the one after that.

Reyes had expected that sleep would not find him easily, and he’d been right. He is unable to get comfortable with one arm and one leg splinted. Reyes would discover one comfortable position, and then something else would begin to hurt, necessitating moving restlessly underneath the blankets that he would throw off due to being overheated only to catch a chill and have to recover, stiff muscles complaining like a man twice his age.

Title: A Foothold in Andromeda (An Andromeda Tale, Book Two)

Whatever Harry had given him has a hangover effect when Scott wakes up an hour later. The lingering effects make all of Scott’s emotions feel distant and soft-edged. Curled up on his side, looking away from Sara, Scott stares at the row of biobeds stretching out in front of him in a neat line, the drugs making them seem to go on forever infinity. There are a few patients further down the row that medical staff come and go from their bedsides, but nobody approaches Scott, leaving him to his dulled thoughts.

He doesn’t know whether he should thank Harry or scream at him for sedating him against his will, but getting the energy up to do so seems impossible.

All I Want For Christmas Is You

Reposting the only Xmas holiday fic I’ve ever finished.  It’s not looking like the sequel is going to make it before New Years (never say never… but my work schedule says unlikely).  Was briefly playing around with graphics this evening.

Title: Reinventing Scott, Chapter 3: Earning Your Place

Fandom: Mass Effect Andromeda

Fic summary: 

Betrayed and left for dead, Scott Ryder gets to reinvent himself how he wants to be. He tried being what others wanted or expected him to be but now he’s going to make his own decisions and it starts with repaying a life for a life. 

They say if you save someone’s life you’re now responsible for them. Scott would argue he owes his rescuer the rest of his life not that they need to watch over him. 

Scott’s second life ends on Eos. His third belongs to Reyes Vidal.

Chapter summary: Scott needs to earn what he’s being given.

Scott Ryder has never been one to strike out on his own; he prefers to follow, have someone else make the hard decisions for him when he can’t, or stop him before he does. He’s not the greatest leader, after all—not like Sara and certainly not like Alec.

But a new galaxy signals a time for change, and Scott gets it after drooling over Reyes Vidal, a man more than happy to hand him his change on a silver platter. It could have been a better one, with less paranoia and fear and pain. Maybe even fewer nights spent alone with a bottle of whiskey, wondering if the love of his life was even alive.

His life had certainly changed… But at least he’d gotten to know what it felt like to really be loved and valued. What it felt like to be someone.
