Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

[Sorry I was practically whispering, but I saw #multilanguagetos going around, and had to participate in the middle of the night when the rest of the house is sleeping. Not sure that they want unofficial conlangs for the project, but it was a challenging translation, and good practice for the development of the writing system!]

spás, an imeallchríoch deireanach. Seo é turas an long-réalta Enterprise. A misean de cúig bliana, chun domhain nua choimthíocha a aimsiú, chun daoine nua agus cultúir nua a aimsiú. Chun dul go mhisniúil go áiteanna nach bhfuil éinne riamh.

Translation:

Space, the final frontier. This is the journey of the star-ship* Enterprise. Its mission of five years, to find new alien worlds, To find new people and new cultures. To go courageously to places where nobody has been before.

I couldn’t find an official translation, so I did this myself xD

*long-réalta literally translates as something like “ship of the stars”, and I used it because I couldn’t find a word for starship or spaceship in my dictionary, and I thought “rocket” didn’t sound as nice

Oh my god Denmark. The Danish translation of star trek’s intro monologue translates as:

“Space, the uttermost border. This is the space journey of the spaceship Enterprise. The five year mission is to discover new worlds, to find life and new civilisations To pull out, where nobody has been before”

Ah yes. The spaceship made for space, for traveling through space. That spaceship. …is pulling out

Okay everyone, send me your recordings of the Star Trek opening monologue, translated into your (non-english) language! i.e record yourself saying the monologue. You can either try and find an official translation (like streaming site/dvd/bluray) or translate it yourself. First, check the list below to see if your language is taken. If not, feel free to submit your monologue by messaging me or posting a sound file under the tag #multilanguagetos If your language is taken, you are very welcome to post it on your own blog anyway (I don’t claim ownership of this concept)! So I popped in my TOS bluray to check out the Swedish subtitles for the intro monologue, and... Literally everything translates the same except for the first line, which translates as: "Space, the last adventure" asdhsgahhaga Of COURSE the Swedish version would be the most depressing shit ever. Who cares about space when it's pitch black and ice cold for 8 months of the year, no difference there, we might as well already be in space for all we care. Whatever, go to space, have your last adventure *clenches fist in pocket*
