We had to make a speech about our mother at school and it made me realize how distant I am with my mom and how I take some of her actions for granted. So if you guys ever read this, and something clicked inside of you, please, go to your mom or moms and love them. Take care of them. Talk to them.
“She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible.” How do I describe my mother? There are a lot of things I could describe about my mother. Like her layered coal-black hair that reaches her shoulders. Or her rectangular glasses rested upon her button nose. Or her unbelievably built and healthy body she can’t help but compare with Ellen Adarna’s. But those are just her physical looks.
When it comes to my characteristics, my mother is as strong as she looks emotionally, spiritually and mentally. I believe that my mother can relate deeply with the quote I had started off with: “She made the broke look beautiful and the strong look invincible. She walked with the whole universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings.” My mother is a very intelligent woman with a strong, kind and steadfast heart if put into other words. It became a habit of hers to look out for her family. She’s the head of our household, the foundation for our home. She makes sure everyone is doing alright and is comfortable even if it means sacrificing her being comfortable. My mother is determined and fears nothing. Whenever she feels empowered, she channels this feeling into her works making this raw energy that radiates off of her useful to the society and community. She takes care of the possible and trusts God with the impossible. She won’t back down and when she wants to make a point, she will make that point clear. My mom really isn’t afraid of anything, well, except those pesky little cockroaches.
My mother works as a dentist and professor of Periodontology (in other words, bones and gums) in UP Manila. So imagine a forty-five year old woman making both her daughters stand in front of her as she pokes around their mouths, making sure that each of their teeth and gums stay healthy; even taking pictures as reference. Imagine the same woman staying up late just to check her children’s homework and tutor them just to make sure they do their best in school. Sometimes she would scold and shout at my sister and I. Whenever that happens all I see is my mother caring loudly at me.
How do I describe my mother? My mother is someone who can take the place of all others but whose place nobody else can take. My mother is my first role model, my first friend, my first love. She’s actually the reason why I believe in love at first sight; when I first opened my eyes I saw her. I believe this is God’s way of saying, “Here, have a life-long friend.” I may outgrow my mother’s lap, but I know that I’ll never outgrow her heart.
i truly realized i was my mother's daughter today when i told her i found candy that had expired in 2011 in my room and she asked me if i ate it cause she would have
