Watching The Mummy during my sick day, so of course I'm thinking of an AU for Dead Boy Detectives

Edwin as Evelyn, the underestimated librarian who dreams of bigger adventures with all his Egyptian knowledge.

I also thought Charles as Rick at first but them my mind did some weird what ifs. Rather than Jonathan as a brother, if Charles was the goofy friend who came back from the war a little more erratic than he was before. That gives Charles and Edwin the history they already have. Plus adds to the reason Charles would be bringing Edwin a present like the key to the Book of the Damned.

Then make room for Crystal "The American" as Rick. I don't think her story would match Rick's exactly, but I like the idea of her being their reluctant guide, and the disdain between her and Edwin could be hilarious.

Not to mention this gives room for Crystal to do "Guess who's on the wrong side of the river!" to David.

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Stan and Ford fighting for their lives in the desert, finding lost treasures and getting babes 😂

I watched the mummy for the first time and now you all are subject to the brainrot

I’ve just been re-watching The Mummy (Brendan Fraser version) and I cannot help imagining a Maxiel fic to go with it:

• max, working with the museum curator since the owner was friends with his father (jos, an explorer who married max’s beautiful Egyptian mother). being so diligent and knowledgeable like: *dutch lisp* “actually ☝🏻🤓 this artifact is from the Early Dynastic Period not the Old Kingdom, you can see this here…*cue maxplaining*”

• then, freedom fighter daniel that gets abandoned in the desert by his second in command (SCOTTY!! 🫵🏻) and tossed in jail. max’s eccentric british cousin george bringing him the key to the tomb and them having to track down daniel to see where he got it from.

• meeting daniel in jail when he’s all scruffy with unruly curls and a thick beard and Max just: *intense Dutch stare* “You will tell us where you found this. It is very important”. 🧿🧿

• then, they try to hang daniel and of course his neck doesn’t break (too thick and muscular! real-life accuracy!!) so max is left bartering for them to cut him down:

“I will give you £500 to save this man’s life.”

decrepit skeleton helmut marko, head of the prison, who hates daniel anyway and wants him dead: “My boy, I would pay £500 just to watch him hang”

• obviously, they do eventually cut him down and now daniel HAS to take them back because he owes this kid his fucking life…

• right before they leave, they also need to have that moment in the movie where daniel gets a haircut and shows up to the boat all cleaned up and handsome and max is just 😳😳

• something, something ensemble cast with all our faves as their fellow adventurers: sebastian as the museum curator?? lewis as sexy-ass ardeth bay?? checo as that greedy dude that’s only there for the money and gets eaten by beetles??? I would like to see it.
