My take on the few moments of Floyd and Janice that we saw on The Muppets Mayhem

Just my thoughts cuz I have it floating around in my head. Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched the series

- He’s quite protective of her. But not overly so. (When he cried “Oh, Baby, you came back to me!” I sort of squealed)

- Both seem pretty chill about any previous relationships they have had. (Ziggy Marley, whoever Betty is etc)

- Janice’s storyline involves starting to prioritise and love herself first. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t love and care for Floyd. But sometimes, it lowkey feels like he doesn’t fully grasp that yet. Especially in Ep 7 when he gets irritated that she wasn’t thinking of him when they wrote that song (side note: you can ABSOLUTELY write a love song about yourself).

- Floyd regards Janice as his true love (Notice how he says that he’s writing his own love song about his other true love. Which happens to be soup).

- This is all in words and not shown but, that little conversation where Janice talked about how she swooped in and stole Floyd’s heart from Betty is quite telling of their relationship (and likely how it started but hey I could be wrong).

- It probably didn’t feel that great for Floyd when Betty couldn’t decide between him and the other guy (it would suck to feel like you’re second choice for someone). So it’s understandable that he couldn’t stick around and wait for her to make up her mind.

- Janice on the other hand, sounded like she knew what she wanted when she chose Floyd. Like she was sure wanted to be with him. And in the end, Floyd chose the person who also chose him fer sure.

- At the end of the day, even after that whole spiteful song thing (which honestly made me feel mildly uncomfortable), I think they still do love each other very much.

I do wish they had more moments on the show but all in all, Muppets Mayhem was GREAT. I have my fingers crossed for more podcasts/vodcasts talking about the series and maybe even a Season 2 :D

A small list of Miscellaneous Muppet headcanons

Rowlf is either 1/2 or 1/4 bear

Fozzie uses jokes to deal with anxiety (but not successfully) (In either case)

When Kermit grew legs, he was given books like "slime in new places", "warts and all", and "tad to toad"

Beaker texts in emojis

Sweetums likes to bake, but eating anything he makes is a surefire way to give yourself a monsterous hairball (literally).

Muppet Headcanon (which could actually be canon)

So, I was re-reading The Muppets: The Movie Junior Novel and I read this:

“The guys headed for the bathroom, passing walls plastered with photos of the two of them together, making their scout salutes, celebrating their joint bar mitzvahs, getting ready for prom, pulling wacky faces in a photo booth.” pg. 6

And this sentence caught my eye: “celebrating their joint bar mitzvahs”.

In case you didn’t know, a bar mitzvah is a coming-of-age celebration for Jewish boys when they turn 13.

While as far as I know, there’s no reference to this photo in the movie, I think that’s all the evidence we need to prove that Walter and Gary are Jewish!

And if this fact is still true, then this means that Zoot’s no longer the only Jewish Muppet anymore! Huzzah!

My headcanons for Dolores/Trumpet Girl:

She used to be a singer for clubs and lounges (pretty much wherever she could get work), but she either had too many uncomfortable run-ins with patrons and it drove her off or she suffered some kind of vocal trauma that made her really uncomfortable/self conscious about singing and she changed to playing trumpet at a less profitable establishment where she'd be more in the background. Either way I picture her having a deeper voice, and still able to sing, just embarrassed by doing it. Overall a pretty confident person otherwise, just really hung up on that.

I ship her with Dr. Teeth, and I think he'd help her regain some confidence in her singing, though she may still choose not to do it since she enjoys getting to have a more chill & low-key role in performances.

She's a total night owl and likes to go out on the town when she gets off of work. She's really good friends with Nigel even though they're total opposites (he's super dull and she's bursting with charisma and sass).

He used to moonlight as a bartender and they would try and help each other find work where they could, so sometimes she'll pretend she doesn't feel like going out and does a quiet hangout with him if he's been feeling really down. She's also one of the only people who finds Mahna Mahna relatively tolerable (if only in small doses).

Zoot backstory blurb

This would have been a part of a part 2 of my Electric Mayhem backstory collection, but is was just a massive wall of text, so I've split everything into blurbs.

Zoot is autistic, mildly epileptic, and is bordering on legally blind from an untreated eye condition. He was born to deaf parents who were unfortunately quite negligent, and did not speak at all until he was 6 and was forced to learn when he began public school. His name is legally Zach, but he butchered the pronunciation on the first day of school and was henceforth referred to as “Zoot the mute” since he was too shy to talk for the remainder of his time in school. He now goes by Zoot since he feels more like that's his name than his legal one is. As his eyesight worsened, his grades suffered and he began to sign less clearly as time went on, only catching fragments of what was told to him and giving simple or nonsensical answers, retreating further and further into himself. He did, however, excel at music to a savant-like level, and his band teacher, trying to form a connection, gave him a rusted old saxophone to take home with him. It became his most prized possession. He left home one winter night after once again being locked outside for missing his curfew, taking only  his saxophone & the clothes on his person with him.  He lived rough for a few years until he met Floyd by accidentally crashing his street performance with some freestyle sax.  Zoot was profoundly embarrassed and ran off, but Floyd, genuinely impressed, tracked him down and convinced him that they should pair up and travel together. As they traveled, they bonded and Floyd was appalled that “the system” had clearly failed  Zoot so badly. He couldn’t do much, but he gave him some “special smokes” for his absence seizures & for panic attacks. They worked a charm, but Zoot still didn’t speak for the first year of their friendship

Crazy Harry headcanons (part 1!)

Crazy Harry is the godfather of a semi OC character named Dolly. she's a hybrid between a human & a Whatnot Muppet. she works as a stunt double at a film studio, and when work is slow she picks up a bit of extra cash working at the theater (Harry put in a good word for her and they were a bit afraid to oppose him). She's dating Animal, and though she's really serene she has a real wild side, they bonded over their mutual love of physical peril and loud music. ( a clip of Dolly & Animal can be seen here). Harry's a pretty sweet guy overall, and very good with children, just a decidedly dangerous one as well when it comes to pyrotechnics.

CH has a limited ability to verbalize outside of echoing because of an accident he and Dolly's parents were involved in in their youth (they were childhood friends and were exactly as reckless as you'd imagine they'd be) but it doesn't affect his intelligence.

His communication impairments are limited to physical speech and he tried using text to speech devices before but didn't like not having his hands free for his work, so he mostly uses sign language when he can.

Occasionally, Harry likes getting to just chill out and maybe doing some charcoal sketches (of bomb designs & explosion aftermaths of course lol)

Muppet headcanon I came up with while VERY tired but I think is plausible: Sweetums is a snuggler, but he likes to be the little spoon. He will try to scrunch down as small as possible for whoever's trying to hold him.
