#musselburgh hat

hi everybody, look at the musselburgh hat I finished

the yarn was handspun too! but not enough yardage to do a folded brim. I'd started it in the assumption i would need something to pass time during a 3hr long eeg (which was an inaccurate assumption)

BUT i had a handful of long car rides in august so worked on it quite a bit then

I also started another one cuz lately my energy has been pry much nonexistent so having a project to just knit stockinette around and around without measuring how long it's getting has been useful.

Fiddling with these DPNs is like trying to handle a biblically accurate angel, but that Musselburgh hat is finally on a good way (after frogging a bunch of prior attempts) xD

And I'm learning so much! All new vocab and techniques!

I won yarn chicken by six inches on a project that took an entire skein of sock yarn.

musselburgh on the needles :) yarn is Opal 11261 “Crush” and i forgot how much fun it is to knit these hats. will it be a holiday gift? only time will tell 🤧

my 19th musselburgh is fresh of the needles (not blocked yet) & I can’t wait to gift it for Christmas! I loved how bright this yarn was - it almost looked like it was glowing at times

Musselburgh Hat #1

I tried to resist casting on a hat that “everyone” was knitting just because I would rather do my own thing. I’m not a person who jumps on bandwagons but I will eat crow for this instance.

The “bandwagon hat” is so customizable. You can use several different weights of yarn to make hats from infant to adult XL.

The particular hat is an adult large knit with Knit Picks bare yarn that I dyed with frozen blueberries.
