If I had more experience knitting hats, I could knit myself a tomato pincushion hat to wear to work on Hallowe'en.
Does anyone know of a simple round hat pattern that would lend itself to being tomatofied?

Finished knitting this beautiful hat! Pattern is Three Hares Tam by Cathy Dobson. I ended up felting it very lightly as it turned out slightly too big, this also greatly improved the texture for a hat, in my opinion.
The three hares motif is common in art and architecture and I recommend you read up on it as it is fascinating.
Yarn was YarnHome New Zealand fingering. Not the softest yarn, very rustic, but not usually a problem for me. I might line the sides of the hat with fabric in the future as I am a bit weird about hats though.
The three hares motif is an ancient symbol which has been used for centuries as an auspicious talisman. It is characterised by the hares ea
hi everybody, look at the musselburgh hat I finished
the yarn was handspun too! but not enough yardage to do a folded brim. I'd started it in the assumption i would need something to pass time during a 3hr long eeg (which was an inaccurate assumption)
BUT i had a handful of long car rides in august so worked on it quite a bit then
I also started another one cuz lately my energy has been pry much nonexistent so having a project to just knit stockinette around and around without measuring how long it's getting has been useful.
Fourth hat is a go!
Currently, I'm using leftover wool from a baby blanket I knitted for my niece nearly six years ago. It's a Stylecraft chunky of some description. It's going to be all in 2x2 rib and I'm not following a specific pattern, just designing it based on some math from a guide and a video I watched on how to do decreases in 2x2 rib.
I plan to knit the main body long enough so that the hat can double up around my daughter's ears and the rest of her head to keep her extra warm.
a little bit of shameless (okay look, if I felt no twinge of shame or at least self-conscious insecurity, I wouldn’t feel a need to describe it that way. so slightly ambivalent, at least) self-promotion on an off day: through September 3, 2025, get 20% off your purchase of 4 or more patterns in my Ravelry portfolio when you use code “Autumn” at checkout.
If you're looking for the May KAL pattern on Etsy, don't worry, I've got you there, too!
The new Textured Diamonds Hat pattern is on sale on Etsy as part of the May KAL! Good Luck and happy knitting!
CRAFT NOTES 9/9/2025
Greetings! It’s been a busy week. I have a mental list of things that I want done and I don’t feel like any of it is getting done.
However, I did finally finish my socks and I am really happy with how they turned out. PATTERN COMING SOON
I also finished knitting another hat.
I put a few inches into my sweater this morning on a road trip. I am hoping to dedicate more time to this project over the next few weeks.
Last night I figured out what I wanted to do with the last of my yarn from my hats. I also have a few more scraps of this yarn. I am making some gnomes with the last of it.
I plan to knit some baby and toddler socks with my remaining Christmas sock yarn.
Now should I go knit on something, clean my house or take a nap?
