#doodle #I ended up writing myself a thousand word essay trying to dissect my own thinking and why I felt so overwhelmingly sad #prompted by the instagram comment I got on a video asking how it’s possible I didn’t get into any phd programs and proposing #that perhaps I wasn’t trying or gave up or was only focused on studying but not on any hands on research experience #like. I’ve already done that more than enough to myself and I know all the ways I was lacking #I don’t really need to hear it from an instagram user who knows nothing about me #they said the comment wasn’t meant to offend so I didn’t want to feel offense #because escalating to feeling offended reminds me a lot of something my mother does #my jerk reaction was to complain about this in any of my private chats with friends which I think is a very logical decision #but then my brain kicked me in the ass and said what if you’re just turning into your mother #with pride so strong that it fuels hatred towards people on nothing but assumptions #and what if the people you trust to validate you call you out on that #i know it’s not the same but I don’t want to be validated for hatefulness the way my mom expects from me #i also don’t want my feelings on this to be minimized though #so what can I do except keep it to myself where I can manage my expectations for myself and others best #I just have so much I want to tell my friends that I can’t muster up the confidence to for some reason #I loved watching over the garden wall and I haven’t stopped listening to the soundtrack since #I miss everyone and I really want to visit #and I want to reply and talk to people but in this state where I’m overanalyzing everything I feel exhausted before I can even say anything #man
