It's Still's Day, or the awareness day for Still's Disease. Many of you may have seen me talk about having SJIA or Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. There was also an adult onset version, but they're now merged into one disease — Still's Disease.
My journey has been wild and difficult, something that sadly is common. When I started Not Standing Still's Disease in 2009, so many of the stories were similar, including misdiagnoses of leukemia and other scary conditions.
As time goes on, though, more rheumatologists are aware of this rare disease, what it can do when untreated, and how to handle issues like Macrophage Activation Syndrome or MAS.
And I'm so grateful for it.
