ok. i swear im not trying to always make everything about my The Character #mythecharacter but hoyo is in it's "lets bring back stuff from 1.0 and the manga!!" era so i simply. simply. have to mention it.
early on in the games lifespan, a lot of people theorised that vennessa and diluc were related:
falcon theming - to the point that some have guessed his falcon is her*
in the manga, there's a portrait of her falcon form in his office
the fact that the dawn knight ragnvindr and vennessa were comrades and friends - vennessa founded the knights, ragnvindr founded the library found in the knights hq**
most importantly: the manga sets up a very clear parallel between vennessa fighting ursa the drake and diluc fighting ursa the drake
and now we have the lavawalker set being relevant again. and we know we're going further into the mare jivari in the coming future. and one part of the lavawalker set:
and ofc as a reminder: the manga came out in late 2018! the first cbt was june 2019! lavawalker is from 1.0! having two red heads connected to pyro, falcons, and a specific dragon makes it easy for lines to be drawn.
im perfectly willing to accept that posting this could be pre-ordering egg on my face come whatever update we get the next mare jivari quest in but in my defence. The Character.
tldr: the old "diluc is related to vennessa and the muratans" theory might actually be true and could also be connected to the phoenix of the mare jivari
*this theory is a little tenous bcs vennessa's falcon design does not resemble any known falcon in game - however again the manga is from 2018 and designs were liable to change (including diluc's himself!). of the falcons in game, none of them bear more than a passing resemblance but we won't know unless we get an updated design for her falcon form
**i cant believe i have to say this but two red-haired people can in fact have a family together. the fact that diluc's ancestor has been in mond since the archon war does not actually make the "vennessa ancestor" theory invalid. why is this a common rebuttal.
