The Vernal Festival is here in Fyren, as one of the times where the entire nation celebrates as a whole. Many people make a pilgrimage to the central capital of Fyrenius to join the festivities.
The celebration is a four-day festival to rejoice in the return of Spring. The holiday celebrates Nacier, the goddess of Spring and renewal of life, and her two children, Eden and Pippa, the God and Goddess of flora and fauna respectively.
On Thursday, the children spend the day learning about the festival, having class parties, and are released from school early. It’s not common for businesses to close, but Vernal sales are highly common.
On Friday, the Vernal Ball is held on the castle grounds. This is one of the few times when the castle is open to the public. The festivities begin in the early afternoon, and last well past midnight. Food is served all day. Schools and businesses are closed, but the Royal Guard remains active.
On Saturday, Children’s Day is held within the cities. In Fyrenius, the central square is filled with games and activities for the children. Most of the Royal Guard is given the day off to spend with their families.
Sunday is the Day of Service. Gifts and offerings are made to celebrate Nacier and her changes brought upon the world. Religious service is not mandatory, but them temples of Nacier are typically crowded and bustling with activity. Smaller temples to Eden and Pippa are quieter, but some people still bring tributes to the younger deities. Many people begin gardening on this day as a tribute to Nacier and Eden.
